Word on the street is the Dallas Cowboys have the best offensive line in football. At least that's what is constantly repeated inside the locker room and by many football aficionados around the country.
Pro Football Focus disagrees.
The site ranked the Cowboys offensive line as the top unit in the league coming into the season but has since
dropped them to No. 5 heading into last week. Their reason?
"Tyron Smith has been injured, and LG La'El Collins has been lost for an extended period, so the line hasn't been quite as dominant as we expected it to be coming into the year. Collins, in particular, was not playing well even before he got hurt."
It is hard to argue with the reasoning because the unit has been hit hard by injuries this season. At the same time, they have paved the way for rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott to be the NFL's leading rusher through five weeks of action and given rookie quarterback Dak Prescott more than enough time to find open receivers.
Is the Cowboys offensive line the fifth best in the NFL? Maybe, maybe not. But after investing three first-round picks in the unit, they'll be judged accordingly.
