DMN Newman quote on DC

yeah, but when Newman was asked about Parcells he said he definitely wanted to see him return as coach...you'd think if he thought Parcells was the reason everything was the same every week, he wouldnt be wanting him back...

David

or perhaps Newman just likes BP the coach?

Cornerback Terence Newman is a fan of Bowles, who joined the Cowboys in 2005 and worked with Parcells with the New York Jets.

"He played in the league, and I think he has an understanding of different things," Newman said. "Instead of running the same thing every week, he knows teams will figure that out and understands you have to change things up."

David

Ouch!

Imagine our secondary without Newman. Seattle lost both their starters and still shut down arguably the best duo in the game. If we lost Henry and Newman we'd gvie up 70 against a team. Its terrible how bad Zimmer/BP got out-coached by Seattle.

Well considering Fergy said some guys on this D arent even aware of down and distance I'm not so sure I wouldnt feel safer just calling the same thing most of the time anyway]. ;)

Umm..... do we really want to open that can of worms as to why.. :)

Well I would hope it's not "coaching" since everyone else in the world thats paying attention to the game knows down and distance. Hey for all I know it's not even that big of deal to not be aware of it.. they have their assigments... just do them regardless.. except then why did Fergy bring it up?

And if the D coaches are calling the same thing over and over I wouldnt think complexity would be clouding up the defenders minds about such other trivial things as down and distance either.

Whatever.

Yes. I'd like to open that can of worms. Do you know why they don't know down and distance?

It wouldn't surprise me if they do give the DC job to Bowles, but if not Bowles, who else do you think they will offer the DC job to?

Perhaps Paul Pasqueloni...

Cause they just assume every down is 1st down since whenever they get to a 3rd down it becomes a 1st down anyway?

No, do you know why?

Echoing you... I would certainly hope it wasn't the coaching and I seriously doubt it was.

If it's on the players with the vanilla scheme we are running then we are in serious trouble. Maybe they simply had one of those days where they were wishing they were somewhere else.....they certainly played like it.

Now that I think about it that's pretty serious as well. Motivation is underrated. :)

 I never thought of it that way!

:laugh2: That's a classic DC...

. . . etc. you are asking for trouble. Maybe nobody said it but it has some truth to it. LOL:laugh2:

Well, except for Zoners. We know what is best for the Cowboys:laugh2:

That's exactly why I think we need a new coach. BP is obviously questioning HIS motivation on whether he wants to coach or not... why should we expect our players to act any different than our coach.

Yes Sir I hear you.

I've been told many times that players usually reflect their coach.

Random Cowboys Player: "You know, I should work harder and try to be all I can be, but if my 65 year old coach isn't quite sure he wants to coach at 66, maybe I'll just take the year off, not worry about winning or endorsements or my next contract, and breeze my way through this. After all, its only me getting embarrassed on national TV and my friends and family in the stands, why should I care if my 65 year old coach doesn't?"

Yeah, that sounds plausible.

I dont understand why so many people think Zimmer should get a get out of jail free card on the 3-4 thing. OUR DEFENSE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE FOR 10 YEARS. It doesnt mean squat on yards. I dont care about top ten finishes I want to know 3 things -Pts per game(when has a Zimmer defense led this catagoy?) Turnovers and Sacks. The last to go hand in hand if your are getting sack that means you are getting pressure which means fumbles and ints.
Yards mean nothing and that my freinds is how you are measuring this great Zimmer defense.

I was once a Zimmer defender but now I am a GROZ fan. You can blame Bill all you want we had the same problems before BP with a 4-3 defense.
