False. They had a QB that was playing great football in the regular season(Doug Flutie). Flutie was rested for the regular season finale and Johnson played. Rob Johnson had the best day of his career on that day and Wade bought into the fool's gold. He started Johnson the next week in Tennessee and lost in the "Music City Miracle". Flutie would have sliced and diced that team and it never would have come down to a Special teams gaffe had Wade been smart enough to start the QB that got him there to start with. It's stupid decisions like that that keep Wade from being anything more than a decent interim Head Coach.

Flutie was not playing great football in the regular season. He was average at best that season. Perhaps they still should have stuck with him, but he wasn't anything special that year or really any season during his NFL career. The legend of Flutie is far greater than the real QB.

If Garrett had been named head coach in 2007 Dallas would have still made the playoffs that season. Wade did nothing special as head coach while with the Cowboys. He is a good DC. Well, maybe. The Texans wasn't playing great defense his last season in Houston.

They were not playing 'great' defense because their QB was in a tear regarding INTs and not just INTs but pick sixes.

And you can spin it any way you want under all sorts of assumptions. Wade got us to the play-offs and won a play-off game. Garrett got us 8-8 for years and until he was demoted and surrounded by experienced play-callers which is what Wade wanted from the beginning, we got 12-4.

Jerry listened to Wade's advice late in the game squandering Romo's best years.

Lol..

That's because Ralph Wilson told him to do it.

Eric moulds even confirmed this.

Further, Anybody familiar with the type of guy Wade is knows he doesn't go that route.. And all of this neglects the fact that they were 11-5, meaning Wade had them playing great football, especially on defense, which was their best aspect. That got them their record.

Wades teams do well when he takes over but his "soft" players coach attitude permeates locker rooms and he loses them. When he tries to buckle down the players "laugh" at him because that is not who he is. There are stories out there where he does not demand perfection in practice, it showed here when the team was one of the worst pre-snap penalized teams. I find his coaching methods counter productive just as I find full on dictatorship type of coaching counter productive, one costs you games the other costs you players.

You mean Dallas, even during the Garrett era as HC, wasn't amongst the worst in pre-snap penalties? And Garrett as OC?

His most recent history here in Dallas, yes. But it shows up everywhere when he is the HC. I do not knock the guy as a DC, he is great one he has track record that shows it but as HC 3 years is about the max his system allows. If he was a head coaching guru it would have shown by now. Usually where ever he goes as HC the teams are worse off talent wise than when he got there.

Did Denver win the SB on his team?

You are going to give Phillips credit for the 1997 SB. You can't even say it was because of Phillips that Denver go Terrell Davis. Why did Phillips get fired after 1994 season in Denver? Rumor has it, and its going to sound familiar, he lost the team. Oh I am sure Elway had a little say in it.

You have no problems giving credit to Parcells and other coaches for Wade's 13-3 and division playoff win two years later.

Wade inherited a playoff team, his first year. His second year an injury to romo probably didn't do him any favors. He was losing the team in his third, if it wasn't for the RW11 injury Miles would have been a relative unknown still. He is a sloppy HC.

Remember, it was his fourth team he allegedly lost it. Their third season, he went to the play-offs and won a game.

13-3. 9-7. 10-6...

And Roy Williams was brought in to 'heal' Garrett's offense. Wade wanted Dan Reeves to focus on the running game after the 2009 season. In 2010, before Wade allegedly lost it, the defense was playing pretty decent, but the offense was struggling but finally blew up. That was the same year Garrett called that pass play against the Commanders which led to the fumble right before the half. That desire to check Garrett's play-calling only saw fruition when Jerry finally brought in Callahan to revamp the OL and Scott Linehan to call plays.

I know what season he finally lost the team, he was losing the team the third year some would say they won in spite of him. I get you think he is a good head coach that has been judged unfairly. I think he is good DC that can't cut it for whatever reason as a long term HC.
