Just gotta bite the bullet on this one and go 7-70 mill. Although he might prefer a 4 year deal and back on the market at 29.

Whatever the deal, it is 10 mill or more a year per. That may sound like a lot not but in a few years it won't be

Is there some reason that decision has to be made now vs next off season? Any downside to declaring this now?

You have to declare a 5th year option on a player during the summer before their 4th season. Remember last summer when cowboys declined to use the option on Claiborne?

The benefit of the 5 year rookie deal, case in point.

We can critique yhe FO all we want. But what a great job they have done on the OL

They have but its not like they have turned around the careers of a bunch of rejects and late round picks like Jimmy did. They built the OL on the back of four blue chip prospects. I credit them for being patient and putting an emphasis on the position but that's it.
