Some consolation for the Cowboys?

Superstar columnist Tim Cowlishaw writes that the Cowboys must be kicking themselves after watching the Giants win the Super Bowl.

As Wade Phillips infamously noted the morning after the Cowboys' playoff loss, the Giants only won that game on the scoreboard. The Cowboys kicked some serious tail on the stat sheet.

If it makes the Cowboys feel any better, Michael Strahan offered quite a compliment to America's Team.

"Trust me, that is the best team we played, the Cowboys," Strahan told the New York Post.

Strahan surprisingly said the Patriots were not the toughest opponent the Giants faced this season.

he should know, he was neutralized for much of the game

idk whether to take it as a real compliment, or Strahan just trying to find a way to diss New England

*nods* Very nice compliment. Doesn't do much for the way the year ended, I know, but nice.

Interesting, since Romo said the Pats and the Giants were the two best teams he faced all season.

I appreciate the compliment by Strahan, but all it does it let Jerry know for sure that Wade underachieved with this team.

I would think so. We beat them twice and played them tough a third time.

The Patriots were more of a finesse team with their passing game. Although we relied on the passing game also, Marion Barber is more of a smash-mouth runner than Maroney.

Hold on now. The Cowboys underachieved under Parcells as well. So you can't put the whole meltdown on Wade.

This team needs to find a heart. Freakin Tin-Men!

Complimenting the Cowboys or dissing the Pats?

Both isn't an option.

Even Antonio Pierce was saying that the Patriots thought they could be physical with them and that was pretty much a joke because they play in the NFC East against more physical teams than the Patriots.

I agree. We say they underachieved with Wade? Fair enough they also underachieved with BP. So when do the players get held accountable for underachieving? These players get paid more than the coaches do and they have to step up and prove they can do the job, that they can focus on the job at hand. I don't think the team lacks heart or passion but I think we have guys who tend to lack focus within the game.

exactly, if 2 coaches can't advance past the the 1st round w/ largely the same team

it's probably the players

the game is 10% mental, 90% execution

Based on what the Giants have said about us in the past, I'm going with "B".

Yes, Wade is a genius all right.
To say the Giants won only on the scoreboard is . . . well, words fail me.

Wade, git out of the way because the Garrett/Capers train is headed your way and you are in the . . . way.

yes

and no

execution, via practice, should become a habit for players, that's why coaches try to teach players how to react, instead of think and then react, and they're constantly practicing

but of course your mind could become cluttered and you lose focus, leading to lapses in concentration and execution

so yeah

True. Players know they have to bring film home they know they have to get themselves physically and mentally prepared for the games. Coach’s job is to get the team ready but each individual also has a responsibility to get himself ready.

I was thinking about this last night and came to the conclusion that playing us three times did much to help the Giants prepare for the Patriots.

I was a little freaked out watching career builder.com's commercial the other day. At first I wasn't sure why the heart leapt out of that woman's chest. Then, it walked in with a sign reading "I quit". Then I thought "Is this another Pepsi commercial featuring the Dallas Cowboys?" Then I cried a bit.

Then I read this. Ugh...
