DMN: Strahan "Cowboys is the best team we played"

It's all about matchups. Our OL matches up well against G men or almost any team. Often Strahan is neutralized by our massive OL. Our DBs, however, do not match up well against the Pats.
we could have, should have etc but not having Owens at full strength lost the game for us because they didn't repect him in coverage.

Listened to an intersting exchange between Francessa and Simms.
It may actually be availible for replay. WFAN has some of the weeks best interviews availible for replay.

Anyway it was an interesting discussion of what the Giants really are and how the playoffs played out.

Few interesting Cowboy references. One from Simms kinda surprised me even though I agree. He said watching the Giants beat the Pats gave him a greater respect for the season the Cowboys had.

In a round about way acknowledged that the Cowboys were the better team. And probably should've won that game.

Both saw the late 2nd Q TD drive as critical for the Giants. Francessa's convinced they go down 17-7 without that TD and never come back. He thought the Giants were dead and buried after the second 90 yard Dallas TD drive.

Went on to discuss how improbably this Giant run was. How many times they were one play away from elimination against the Cowboys, Packers and Pats.

Both agreed that most of those "one plays" ocurred in the Dallas Game. The Dallas game was the toughest, the one that offered the most peril. And the one in which they were certainly outplayed!

Pretty obvious when we beat them twice by double digits..

Yes, Wade is a genius all right.
To say the Giants won only on the scoreboard is . . . well, words fail me.

Wade, git out of the way because the Garrett/Capers train is headed your way and you are in the . . . way.

Too bad it was Garrett's offense that dropped the soap in the second half.

I swear that Jason Garrett has to be the most overrated coach in the history of the NFL.

Oh well. It is a nice sentiment, even if he only half meant it, and it will just be another reason to enjoy beating them next year.

Complimenting the Cowboys or dissing the Pats?

Both isn't an option.

:D What about Dissing the Pats by rubbing it in that they upset won against us too, while getting fans into the "shoulda woulda coulda" mode.

And Dom Capers right behind him.

Back to what Strahan said, I definitely think it's a positive.

A bit overstated, don't you think? And certainly too soon to call.

Sorry, but we just don't know if it was Garrett's fault or the player's fault. A few bad calls, sure. And, certainly we can blame Crayton for one big gain and a possible TD. We can also blame Fasano for dropping a TD as well.

Garrett singling out Barber after the game kind of told me who had heart in that game. Doing that makes me believe that he almost was saying that a lot of the players didn't exhibit it.

I'm just about tired of physically dominating the eventual super bowl champs in the regular season. This next year's champs stuff...it's not the best.

Man. That kind of reason would have been refreshing after we lost to Seattle.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you like the coordinator/coach when it comes to assigning blame.

I'll just have to refresh myself.

I don't know if you can really explain the Giants this year. Is it a case of them underachieving early in the year or over achieving late?

I do think it's interesting that the DVOA rankings reflect the following.

NE (51.8)
IND (33.0)
DAL (23.9)
JAC (23.7)
GB (21.0)

After all is said and done, the Gmen are the Champs.

Let me first say that the Giants deserved to beat the Cowboys. They made just enough plays and clearly played smarter. The penalties and miscues by the Cowboys bear that out. With all that being said, the closest the Giants came to being eliminated or defeated was against the Cowboys. They dominated the Pack, despite the game going overtime, and clearly had the upper hand against the Pats for most of that game.

My hope is that the Cowboys players, coaches, and front office realize that and use it for motivation in 2008. If they feel as bad as most of the people here and utilize it in the proper way, I'm hopeful that 2008 will be special.

While he complimented Dallas as being the best team, or should I say toughest.....I will blame the emotion of the parade for his comment to the other 31 teams....."we stomped you out"....dunno about you but if I am a player it makes me work harder this off season.....especially the PATS who it was mostly directed at, but I believe we are one of those 31 teams!!!

Congrats Giants!!!! You earned it, but let us also be humble, thats part of being a champion!!!

As Jimmy Johnson once said if you are going to talk the talk then you have to walk the walk. Giants did just that. Heck in ways I don't blame them, no one gave them a chance in hell of pulling this off. From the start of the season then heading into the playoff and then in the SB no one thought they could do this. Right now I don't blame them at all, to the victor goes the spoils

If this group of Cowboys don't figure out how to finish, ... whether it is finishing the season in December, or finishing a playoff game, .. they will be kicking themselves for a long long time over the opportunity missed.

Those opportunities don't come along very often.

Strahan was defending the honor of the NFC East, there's a rich tradition of dominating football and they showed how it used to be on the field Sunday...

I think I have had that in my library since the Campo years.

But it sure works now, I still have an empty feeling in my gut since the Giants game, see my sig line.

Oh, and I have a headache too ... :lmao2:
