In fairness, Williams just saw the contract this Oline got Murray. He could take 200K to go be nobody in Jax, or be patient, run behind this line and hit paydirt a few years later.

Which I actually think is kind of smart of him and has not much to do with 'glory' per se..

I think these players are smart. They know that the road to riches is playing for Dallas. Then get overpaid from teams like Washington.

Plus Williams is still young and still has a lot of threads left. If he can shake the injury bug I think he'll start for this team.

If all you got is the cut block, you cant be trusted to block. You can cut block LBs in preseason games because most of them will be working at Burger King when the season starts, but cut blocking NFL veteran LBs is about the worst thing you can do. Like Strum says, teams will figure you out in no time flat and they will tell their guys to just leap over you at the last second.

Add to this he does not play special teams and you can see why he stayed on the practice squad all season and was never activated to the 53.

The big injury was the infra-patellar tendon. That's not something you rip because of torque on the knee or from lowering too many shoulders.

The most common causes in someone his age is running and jumping. Often pre-tear there is tendonitis. Use of steroids can also weaken the tendon.

Unless they keep four RBs or go without a FB then someone will get cut that will play elsewhere. Tough decisions for the coaches.

Why exactly? Everyone on our line but Free are young ascending players.

I believe it is more probable than not that the line is better than last year.

I didn't finish my thought in that post, but it should have said "They won't be better because of the new players". Obviously, Martin will no longer be a rookie and Fred/Leary have another year of experience so they can improve.

My point was that Free is likely to be the starter again so that position is not improving. Collins might replace Leary, but as a rookie he is doubtful to be an improvement over the underrated Leary.

Except if Collins starts over Leary it is because he beat him out.

One thing I trust about the Garrett regime is that he let's people battle for their spots and plays the best man regardless of draft position.

Garrett could get some pressure from Jerry to start Collins if the competition is reasonably close.

Really? I stand corrected. My surgeon had once told me that was a very difficult tendon to tear as it basically just stabilizes the kneecap. I remember because they took a strip from it to support the ACL and I was worried about weakening the IPT. But I suppose we're talking about a different level of stress from an NFL RB.

If it's close you start Collins. Doesn't hurt you today and makes you better tomorrow.

That's just good organizational management.

Yes, it is, but it has nothing to do with my original point.

My original point was that fans believe that the Cowboys OL will be drastically better in 2015 because of the new acquisitions (Collins, Green, Gibson).

Leary was really good in 2014, so any improvement over him will be incremental. Free is likely to be the starter again, so there is no improvement there in 2015.

Collins and Green were excellent acquisitions and have terrific upside for the future, but their impact on the 2015 season is being exaggerated by many fans/media.

While I agree drastic improvement may be exaggerated I do think the OL will be improved for the simple fact that last year was the 1st season that Smith, Frederick and Martin played together. I think each come into the season more experienced and more developed as players as well as a group working in unison. I think Frederick showed very good improvement from year 1 to year 2.

I want to win a Super Bowl.

Our weak spot is swing tackle.

Fortenberry, Wetzel, Weems, Gipson, Green, and Collins need to fight it out to fill that spot.

Fans will be right but for the wrong reason. I'm OK with it.

Yes, they can improve because Martin will be in his 2nd year and Fred/Leary in their 3rd years. My point is specific to how much improvement will come from the new players (Collins, Green, Gibson).

I agree with you. Collins has the talent to make an impact be it at G or T but really have to wait and see how quickly he can come in and develop. One thing for sure he joins a tight knit group of players on that OL who will be there to help him

He can run the ball though. We're a running team. Nobody is saying Williams is your every down all purpose back. He doesnt have to be. McFadden is your blocker. Better than murray at pass pro imo. The stats back that up.

I just looked at my preseason notes and I have Williams down for a nice pass protection block against Miami. Need to relook and if I find it i will give the anecdote here.
