People have been trying to replace Romo for years. However, I do think this year is as good a year as any to look hard at some future replacements.

If there is a QB they really like then I have no issue with getting a QB. Myself I'm not thrilled with the prospect out who are being shown as 1st rd picks. I do think there are a couple of guys who likely will be there in the 3rd whom I would not mind taking a chance on.

What about Colt McCoy, if he's available?

I'm a big UT fan and loved Colt at Texas but as a pro I think the best he will achieve is a backup QB. He does not have the arm I would want as a starter.

I think they are talking about more of a guy to groom and eventually replace Romo down the road...not some guy that would be a backup to Romo.

I still think the fact that they kept Vaughan on the 53 all year is pretty telling.

I think it is, too. They needed that spot at times last year, too, and weren't tempted to expose him.

It'd be great to see him put in a big offseason and look good in camp. It's going to be fun (?) watching what we do with that QB2 spot this season.

True then again this past SB saw a former 3rd and 6th rd QB's playing in the SB. lol

Yes. Outside of those two, how many have become decent NFL starters? 115 have been drafted from rounds 4-7 since 2000. Only Brady, Bulger, Fitzpatrick and Orton have had success.

Not saying the odds are not better with a 1st rd QB. The problem is when you take a 1st rd QB that has 3rd rd talent. Do you get a Luck or an RGIII? odds even for 1st rd picks to ever do anything is not great.

You left off Romo as a very good starting QB who was not a 1st rd pick.

This is a terrible draft for quarterbacks. Not the year to be looking for a franchise guy.

I think Winston, Mariota, & Hunley all have a chance to be very good....
not sure about the depth... Petty, & Mannion? maybe...
