The way our roster is constructed, many are looking at the wrong positions and will be disappointed.
  • WR- Lamb is among the highest paid players. We need to stagger contracts by pairing him with a rookie and/or a low cost, not so flashy veteran.
  • DT- Osa is now a highly paid DT, somewhat unusual in Dallas. Look to see him paired with a rookie and possibly a low cost free agent for the rotation.
  • DE- Parsons is about to become the highest paid DE in football. You cannot pay a tier 1 free agent. We already have Williams and Kneeland on rookie contracts. Expect another rookie in the rotation and possibly DLaw or a DLaw type tier 2/3 free agent.
However, we do not necessarily want to pop another rookie into the OL this year while hoping for second year jumps from Beebe and Guyton. A starting RG is a position worth paying free agent money to, and I think we will.
I also expect us to sign a tier 2/3 RB like Dowdle or another vet to pair with a rookie, while both Malik Davis and Deuce Vaughn try to be #3 in the rotation.

That may be it in free agency until we do our usual depth low cost signings of guys like Lawson-DE, Kendricks-LB.

This draft is deeper at positions we are already paying, which is good. Don’t expect Jerry to sign star free agents to bigger money than they deserve at positions where we already have big money invested.

The positions we need established starting free agents the most are OG and ILB, and then veteran depth in lower cost, role players at DT, DE, LB, CB, RB, WR. And we need to find a veteran backup at QB.

so this means like 8-9 record next year?

As I just said in another thread, we will suck if that happens. Mediocre at best, and the Joneses are just lining their pockets. They need some pressure to actually win ballgames.

We have no presence on offense other than Lamb. No running game to speak of and our D sucks. There needs to be a splash on offense, bring in DK. Him and Lamb would be the best WR combo in the league, then you can actually run the ball a bit with the room they would provide.

We are settling for a nothing squad cause the Joneses have made us do that. Give me something to be excited about instead of the same ol same ol they have been providing for the last 30 years.

Every team gets to draft, and if that's the only thing we do other than sign guys already on the team, its going to be another terrible season.

FOOLISH has been going on here alot earlier than just this upcoming free agency period.

This team has been in the lower 10 teams spending in free agency since 2016.

When an NFL GM says, "I'm not going to use FA to fill voids on my team", I'm pretty sure there won't be foolish spending in that venue......nor mindful spending

Most of his foolish spending happens with his hand picked players

Have to agree that OG and ILB will probably be what they go for 1st but based on who is available, I don't believe either will command huge salaries.

Greenland, Simmons, White, Chaisson, and Jones will be reasonably priced at LB and could imagine double dipping and also adding another one in the draft especially with the unknown of Overshown.

Guard is a bit different with looking for best run blocker. Guessing Will Hernandez will get solid look.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chubb is the target at RB and then 2 in the draft.

Also I think that taking a short prove it contract on a DE like Young or Omenihu would be good until we know Williams is okay.

WR and DT will come in 1st 3 rounds of the draft.

I still see a Wide receiver and running back selected between rounds 1 and 3. Then a couple lineman. Probably WO first, DT tackle 2nd and RB 3rd. Regarding Free Agents I see a Linebacker and a running back tier 2 or 3, journeyman type.

We make plenty of small foolish moves, we definitely can't afford big ones.

None foolish. Build on strengths...not look for holes instead. Try qualifying for a fan's role.

I'm certainly not teaching your stereotype to our kids.

I don’t expect big moves

I expect competence and signing quality players that either can start or be key rotational pieces

That’s all I ever wanted….not unproven 8 year vets
