That Garrett has this team controlling their own destiny overcoming a defense that has started 18 different players on the DL? All of our LBs have missed time. We have been dinged on the back end too.

The Eagles have NO PLAYERS ON IR and have only lost 30 GAMES by injured starters.

Dallas has 7 PLAYERS ON IR. And God knows how many lost games but the DL alone has surpassed the Eagles total.

With guys on D that should be at Home Depot giving up yards and points at a record pace we have somehow gotten ourselves to 5-0 in the NFC East and a win and you are in on Sunday night.

Sorry but that is not bad coaching.

I for one would love to see what this team could do with a defensive minded draft and some luck for once on the injury front. Because with even a middle of the pack defense this team would not be playing Sunday for a spot in the playoffs, they'd be playing for the #1 seed.

You know we all criticize Garrett. And IMO, the criticism is warranted. But if this team manages to get to 9-7 and make it to the playoffs? At some point you have to acknowledge the team he's bringing to the post season. His offensive unit.......you can probably consider it a underachieving unit. But the team as a hold? Can you sit here and say we are a team that should be making the playoffs? The answer is no. Especially with the worst defense in the league yardage wise.

With the injuries we have had on defense yes they will have deserved it.

Oh man, the ol, hey some guys are out, and this team is broken, but hey you know what? 1 out of 4 walls is not burning and we can hang our hat on that. How some people are so happy this team fights so hard to mediocre what they are willing to accept to make it feel good is beyond me.

There is a good chance lee, mo and sims come back next week. So we would be fielding our opening day defense minus Allen who was cut and Durant but Sims is a wash. Injuries will not be an excuse.

The team is tied for 4th in the league in turnover ratio, which is arguably driven by luck. Other than the NFCE being complete garbage this year, there is no other reason we are even having this conversation.

You mean the opening day defense with Spencer and Ratliff? Try again.

They have the last two years as well. At some point, Garrett has to get them over the hump even if he is at fault or not. Garrett deserves to be criticized to some degree. He has directly cost us the Detroit and Green Bay games. Add those in and we are sitting at 10-5 and this next game means nothing.

I don't even blame the defensive coaches, they got dealt a tough hand. If you think Garrett had a heavy hand in the department, then you are mistaken. I don't blame Garrett for the defense at all, he probably had very little input on that side of the ball. Kiffin and Marinelli are doing what they can with mediocre college players. In the end, Garrett should not be blamed or credited in relation to the defense.

Now, the offense is a different story and Garrett has full control of that. He should get some blame for that side and deservedly so. They have been pretty healthy all season and I know it can be more potent than it is. IMO, there is one thing holding them back....Garrett and his scheme. I would be happy with him staying as long as he relinquishes the reins and hands them over to a new coordinator who has his own thoughts and system. I have seen enough of this air-coryell/west coast/whatever combo they are using.

As I've said repeatedly, injuries are not an argument to keep Jason Garrett. They may be a mitigating circumstance in the presence of a legitimate argument, but they do not, in any way, speak to his quality as a coach. Regardless of the injury situation, after three years, we should have some evidence Garrett is a good coach. We don't. Instead, we have specious game management and a series of highly improbable losses that have kept the Cowboys out of the playoffs.

What's clear as day now is that Garrett should not have been hired in the first place. This was the wrong situation for him. If the Cowboys had been a team in complete rebuilding mode without a franchise quarterback, the Garrett hire might have made sense. He could've grown with them. Unfortunately, the Cowboys weren't that team. Instead, they were a team loaded at the skill positions and fielding the most prolific passer in franchise history in the prime of his career-- a career that's been squandered waiting for Garrett to "figure it out."

That's criminal.

Its been terrible. Its easy to sit here andn say "Ay....next man up" but in most cases we're saying the next man to the next man to the next man up. Not to mention we are trying to transition from the 3-4 to the 4-3? This defense frustrates me at times but its hard to ignore that with all the rookies out there and guys off the streets? This should've been expected.

IMHO injuries, unless it's to the QB, are not an excuse.

Every team in the league goes through it. Even more then the poor Cowboys.,,,....

Other franchises do a better job of preparing for it. U know, scouting. Coaching. Coming up with game plans , etc etc etc....that kind of stuff.....

And had we stayed healthy by now they would have developed into the system and would be peaking going into the playoffs.

Spencer, Ratliff and their backups in Crawford and Bass. Totally agree with your point, its not even about the dropoff in talent. Its that in the NFL each and every Offensive Coordinator can target those street FA players, expose them and kill your defense just on those one or two holes.

Show me another team that has started 18 different players on the DL and you might have a point.
