I don't think it is a flaw in thinking that if you make Dak the highest paid quarterback, then the cowboys won't be able to compete and thus isn't worth it. And nobody said that what we want will effect the Jones decision, but then at least Jerry hasn't always made the most wisest of decisions either, so there is no shame in disagreeing with him. And no, I don't think the team will improve if Dak gets 40 million and the talent drops around him. If that happens, I think 2016 will be his best season and he'll never surpass that and people will go on blaming the bad defense, offensive line, running back, etc, for the lack of success here.
ok the "flaw" was about "elite $" .
he doesnt have to be elite to get the high pay.
But about being able to compete, lets say dak signed for 25 mil a year, that would give 10 mil to spend on other players, which isnt very much,
and it depend on how that money was spent as to whether it really helps or not.
They could wind up wasting that money on players that are not that good.
They might use it to over pay some other player, you never know.
I just read on another thread that 12 % of the cap is the most you can pay and get to a SB, going by past SB winners, this doesnt count the losers lol.
So is 35 million 12 % of cap for 2020?? I dont know.
If it is higher than 12% then you could be right, but dont get stuck on qb value , or that is too much money or he is not worth it.
According to the 12% theory, NO qb is worth it because none even the great ones never won a SB while being paid over that %.
