Do people still think it'll be easy to re-sign Bryant?

A good contract is when both parties walk away happy, but not ecstatic.Hopefully he doesn't really think he deserves Calvin Johnson money, he isn't a top 5 receiver and doesn't deserve to be paid like one.

WELL I am not holding any money

but I would surely try an sign him

Dez Bryant has developed into one of the league's top receivers, and I just can't see how it would improve the Cowboys a lot by getting rid of a playmaker such as Dez who gives you such a dynamic threat to score on offense. Yes, Dez does bring some risk when signing him to a long-term contract with his past off-the-field issues, though that hasn't been a problem of late, and his back concerns. But the Cowboys should give him a second contract, but not break the bank in doing so. They have to be smart about this contract and how they handle it.

I'm not at all worried about him leaving. I'm more worried that the next contract might be one we regret either because of his back or some of this off the field stuff that apparently has been kept in house.

I still think this whole thing could have been avoided if it was kept behind closed doors by both parties as it should have been.

A scenario I don't think anyone has tendered, Jerry can act like some of the fans on here and give him one too many BS offers and he says forget it I'll take less and just go somewhere else. He said don't disrespect me, the same as Wes Welker told NE. It's not always about the money and if they make it about the money, ie. low balling him he may just decide to play elsewhere for the same or less. Franchise tag him after making him mad and he may become every distraction they don't want. Then what??? And don't say, well then he ruins it for himself, HA like Orton and Ratliff did!? No all he'll do is get let go and someone else will pAy him, build a passing game to his strengths and he will go on to be more over those years than he ever would have here because they would tailor to his strengths; not try to make something else out of his game.

Not worried about it. We're boring this year - running the ball, not throwing picks, all of the doom and gloom about Tony's back was overrated. The media needs to find a story. This is normal contract negotiation. Tyron Smith's contract was an anomaly.

Dez will get signed. Everyone will wonder what all the stink was about. The sun will rise in the east the next day. Water will still be wet.

Why isn't more being mentioned about the fact that we have two superstars on our team that are about to become free agents? Signing Bryant is easy. But how do you sign Bryant AND Murray in the same year?

I'm not in a hurry to re-sign Murray.

- I think the market value is going to crash on RBs
- I think his productive is going to fall off if he keeps carrying the rock so many times this year
- I think there will be a deep RB market
- I feel like if he gets paid now, he might regress
- He might get hurt at any point this year, I'd like to see him stay healthy

All these things makes me want to wait til the end of the season.

Re-signing Dez on the other hand is important because we need to establish an identity for next year. If we can't come to an agreement with Dez, he'll have to be franchised, and if he is franchised, I would suggest that we should probably trade him. You just can't break the bank for a WR. What team post salary cap era has won the big game with one of the highest paid WRs in the game?

I remember when season started that Dez said he wouldn't comment about his contract until season was over....what happen to that?

File 13, methinks. Apparently that's the same thing that happened to his statement that "it's not about money."
Anytime guys start denying it's about money, it simply confirms the fact that it is. If it weren't, there wouldn't be any need to negotiate to begin with. They'd be much more honest if players would just decide to can that stuff. It's obviously more about not wanting to appear greedy than just admitting that the money really IS important.

This is all BS... Dez will sign a long term deal for the neighborhood of 13mil per year or he will have
to play next year under the franchise tag for 12.5mi. The cowboys hold all the cards and Dez has
no choice but to play or sit at home. Either way, he stays a cowboy as long as Jerry wants him to.

Yes. Jerry waiting for dust to settle to see what he is paying him. A mere technicality.

Easy? Or cheap? I don't think it'll be cheap. I still have no concerns we'll get a deal done with Dez.

Yep.

He's becoming the face of the franchise, IMO.

Imagine if we make the playoffs and he continues with the highlights?

That equals money in jerry's pocket too.

He'll be back.

Well, in that thread, you and I agreed that 12/year would be fair.

I said 84 mil for 7 years with 38 guaranteed.

Now that assumes that we have all the information on Dez and there's no reason for the team to worry about him going forward.

It would be a lot easier if Dez hadn't had that "man possessed" game that he had in London. Perfect timing for him, not so much for the front office because I think they were hoping to get 'er done this week. Maybe they still will.

Gotta keep that game in perspective....it was the Jaguars, Lets see how the rest of the season plays out....

In the end zone...its all about DEZ and the X....... get rid of the "roc" from the endzone.

Dez needs to shut his mouth right now and play football.

He can talk about his contract and play football. Why wouldn't he be talking about his contract? Jesus, it's going to be millions of dollars! Sorry, but even if he doesn't discuss it, it's going to be on his mind all season. I like how people believe players should be robotic. He should be anticipating a big contract, he has been loyal to this team and played at a high level, and has brought a fire to our offense along with our new offensive line.

My focus would be on a contract as well if I was in his position.

Never felt it would be easy anytime you are trying to put together a long term big money deal there is a lot of back and forth that takes place but at the end of the day I think a deal is done. Not my first rodeo with prime players and the franchise negotiating contracts it is not always pretty but it is part of the process of working out big money deals
