Do people still think it'll be easy to re-sign Bryant?

Well, in that thread, you and I agreed that 12/year would be fair.

I said 84 mil for 7 years with 38 guaranteed.

Now that assumes that we have all the information on Dez and there's no reason for the team to worry about him going forward.

We agreed that it would be fair, but I don't think Dez would take it.

Went out the window when the cowboys started a smear campaign on dez.

I heard somewhere today that his former agent was behind that. I don't know how valid that info is, just saying what I heard on the radio.

I think it's negotiating tactics from both sides and yes I believe they will still get Dez signed long term here. I have no doubt that he'll be playing for the Dallas Cowboys for a long time.

I'm not at all worried about him leaving. I'm more worried that the next contract might be one we regret either because of his back or some of this off the field stuff that apparently has been kept in house.

I'll have to admit that I haven't been watching a lot of sporting news lately so I'm completely unaware of this off the field stuff that's been kept in house that you're referring to. Is there a link or something to the story or stories on these?

table this until the season is over, then tag him while you work on a deal.

5 years 55 million. That will be the contract he gets here or somewhere else.

Here is a great site for salaries. Where do you think Dez deserves to be on this list?

http://overthecap.com/position/wide-receiver/

I would venture that 5 of the top 6 on that list are contracts full of rue. The Calvin Johnson one is probably rue-neutral (for now).

From an impartial Sabermetrics viewpoint, it likely makes sense to franchise Dez, then take the big money you would owe him on a long term deal at age 27 and invest it in multiple younger players. Let somebody else fork over $100 million and inherit injuries and off the field concerns for 75% of the contract length. It's not a fun concept in the eyes of "Proud To Wear The Star!" fandom, but it may result in more long term victories.

An even better scenario would be the above coupled with a trade for draft picks. But who am I kidding? This is Jerry running the show, not Belichick. The last time I can remember a nice high draft choice trade was Steve Walsh.

Here you go bro...

"This is a genuine concern," Rapoport said. "The Cowboys, I am told by multiple sources involved in the situation, do not trustDez Bryant off the field. They feared -- and they have feared for a while -- that it will all blow up in his face, that a variety of small incidents will all come back to haunt him. ...

"I went to the DeSoto (Texas) City Police Department. I found six instances of police coming to Dez Bryant's house -- that's where he lives, in DeSoto. Among the incidents -- and none of these were convictions -- there was a harassment incident, there was a robbery at his house, the fire department had to come and unlock his car that had a sleeping baby inside. All of these things give the Cowboys cause for concern. He's had anger management; they have a manager with him at all times. But they are very nervous, and this is one reason they have not wanted to give him the guaranteed money that most elite receivers get."

It is BS by the way. Check out this CZ thread: http://cowboyszone.com/threads/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-dezstractions.306270/#post-5802023

Jerry may still get his way. They could trade Murray to Cleveland for Johnny Football

I think Dez contract will end up being around 6 years for 75 mill. That would put his avg salary at 12.5 mill a year and make him the 3rd highest paid WR
