Do some fans not even realize how much this franchise has bottomed out?

Yeah, making the playoffs is job one. But winning once you’re in is even more important.

So since our last NFC championship game and SB 29 years ago, we’ve made the playoffs 13 times, winning 5 wild card games. Meaning we have made the playoffs less than 50% of the time since our last SB, and have twice endured 3 or 4 year droughts where we didn’t even make the playoffs.

Between 2000-2002 (3 straight seasons), and 2010-13 (4 straight seasons), we’ve had playoff droughts that would have gotten most GMs fired.

I think the heat on this FO should have been turned up a long time ago. The Jones boys act all smug about their pathetic playoff performance the last 29 years. The only reason they still get to play with their toy is they own the toy.
Yup. Which is why I keep screaming for DTs. Can't even find one single super bowl participant w/o strong DT play.

Thomas and the linebackers. Fowler makes 4. They added 10 players the odds that they will hit on several is pretty good.
LOL.

Thomas is a backup 3T who can't stop the run. The LBs are depth guys, neither makes the LB position much better or a strength. Fowler is a situational pass rusher. He does not make the DE significantly better. But he's the one signing I do like.

They didn't sign one player that solves one of our issues. Trying to say Thomas, for example, solves our issues at DT is laughable. Hahaha.

Ok, let's see how it goes.

there is no reasoning with homers

No you didn’t. You said it's the minimum requirement for a chance to go to the dance. It’s the number one requirement or you’re sitting home.
"Minimum requirement" refers to the absolute lowest level or standard that something needs to meet, whether it's a skill, experience, or specification, to be considered acceptable or to qualify for something.

You said making playoffs is a minimum requirement to making it to the dance. You couldn’t have been more wrong. Not sure how you came up with that. Making the playoffs is a standard that has to be met.

Uh, ....that's the meaning of a minimum requirement, a standard that has to be met in order to progress further

The next requirement is winning all of your playoff games. But you can't even play them, let alone win them if you don't meet the minimum requirement of getting into the playoffs.

By the way, 43.75% of all teams meet this minimum requirement of making the playoffs, every year. Pounding your chest for doing what nearly half of all other teams do every year is somewhat over zealous

You’re just talking in circles. Spin what you want but making the playoffs especially by winning your division is an accomplishment. Less than half the teams make the playoffs. There’s teams that have gone years without making the playoffs. It’s silly to act like making the playoffs is no big deal.

I was talking with an ex-NFL player recently. He was in the league as a WR, including with the Texans and talked about how guys like Andre Johnson were just on a completely different level.

He also said most football players are just overall bad people. He told me a very famous ex-Steeler legend was in a bar with his girlfriend and he literally got in a fight with her and slammed her on the ground. This was in Pennsylvania. You know what they did? Kicked the girl out…

The majority players are about themselves and always have been about themselves.

I'd rather boast about accomplishing what only 1/32 of teams accomplish than what 7/16 do.

The problem is only one team each season can boast about winning the SB. It’s silly to downplay earning a playoff birth and act like it’s not an accomplishment.
