Do some fans not even realize how much this franchise has bottomed out?

I think in the Cowboys case, they do need to start over, starting with a new GM who hires the coach. For the last 30 years, it's been Jerry year after year believing the Cowboys are SB contenders and forcing his new hires to try and make these delusions work. But I get what you're saying. Even Jimmy Johnson didn't go wholesale, he kept quite a few Landry pieces.

Look I just look at the other teams that have had more recent playoff success. They've all have had the benefit of a down period and a chance to retool with higher draft picks. And while you are loading up with higher potential talent, then you have the salary cap space to be more aggressive in FA and spend more. That's how I see it.
That's the thing, I have no problem with most of what Dallas has done this offseason. They've primarily shopped for players who can contribute (Thomas, Fowler, Williams, Sanborn) or players who have untapped potential that hasn't been realized for a variety of reasons but aren't absolutely being counted on as starters (Turner, Campbell, Elam, Murray, although Elam will be needed to start if Diggs is out).

My problem isn't with making these type moves, it's not making one or two moves for clear upgrades each year to fix weak links. You have to have these type of players, but Dallas doesn't do the other type and therefore come up short in the playoffs when they run into teams with fewer weak links.

You got owned for you claim many have not made it.

You do not even know the proper definition of many

you keep trying to prop up Jethro and company

losers loose and you do it well
Either way you both are correct. Our team has sucked for sometime.

Making the playoffs is a goal and an accomplishment, especially winning your division. Whether you want to admit it or not it’s a feather in your cap. It improves your seeding, giving you a home playoff game which increases your chances in postseason. It’s certainly not the ultimate goal but it’s goal.
it's the minimum requirement for a chance to go to the dance.
14 teams, 43.75% of all teams make it to the playoffs

It’s the number one requirement. No playoffs no chance.
Yeah, making the playoffs is job one. But winning once you’re in is even more important.

So since our last NFC championship game and SB 29 years ago, we’ve made the playoffs 13 times, winning 5 wild card games. Meaning we have made the playoffs less than 50% of the time since our last SB, and have twice endured 3 or 4 year droughts where we didn’t even make the playoffs.

Between 2000-2002 (3 straight seasons), and 2010-13 (4 straight seasons), we’ve had playoff droughts that would have gotten most GMs fired.

I think the heat on this FO should have been turned up a long time ago. The Jones boys act all smug about their pathetic playoff performance the last 29 years. The only reason they still get to play with their toy is they own the toy.

Given the current trajectory, I'm expecting something akin to a Campo-era outing for the upcoming season. Not only do the Joneses not care. When they actually do attempt to care about football matters, they are entirely incompetent. Which puts me in communion, here in New York State, with many friends who are Giants fans.

Speaking of current trajectory, imagine having an 82 year old GM who was 53 the last time his team won a divisional playoff game.

When pondering how far we’ve wandered in the desert, consider that gem.

I knew this thread would grow legs as soon as I first saw the title. lol
Just frustrated me seeing some of these comments.

‘Playing for the Seahawks now? BWAHA! Good luck Tank!”

As if the Cowboys have even come close to Seattle’s success these last 25 years.

And we are basically just another Jags franchise when comparing three decades of Playoff success. Only with a much better stadium.

Absolutely. But why talk smack AFTER they leave to another team? Why didn't they have the decency to approach Jerry when those players were still Cowboys? Also, why so dismissively blurt out their trash to the media?
They probably did. But Jerry listens to no one but Jerry.

The fact this kind of thing only happens here should tell you something.

For this team it is!

Simply pointing out blueblood's hypocrisy. He's long been a proponent of the theory that this franchise has been pretty good because of all the regular season games they have won over the last decade and poo poos the idea that our postseason screw ups means this franchise has failed.

But now he wants to define success for other team by how they did in the playoffs. Typical Cowboys homer.

You fell for it.

They signed more warm bodied JAGs this year then they have in the past.

Name me one FA they signed that significantly impacts/improves a position on our team. Just one.
the homers will claim OSA is the difference maker

he just uses a magnitude of useless words to do it

Yup. All over the place and not readable.
