Do the Cowboys have a Michael Gallup problem?

I think Gallup can still play in the NFL, the Gallup problem for the Cowboys is that he fit the KM offense a lot better than the MM offense we have seen the first two weeks. That could very well change as we see the newer version of the Cowboys offense start to add some more wrinkles as the season goes on, but Gallup was never a big separation guy. He's a solid vertical route runner who really made his money by going up and getting contested passes down the field.

Not a bad type of receiver to have on the team, but not someone you ideally want to pay big money to if you can't make them a featured part of your offense.

it's two games, theres plenty of better WRs across the league who are struggling to find their groove with their QBs right now so i'm not concerned ....now if it's midway through the season and he only has 12 catches for 80 yards total, then i'll be concerned.

i wonder if the giants/jets gameplan was to make dak force it to CD by removing gallup/others and bank on him making mistakes because of it. (Which didnt work this time).

Could be why hes not showing up as much, dunno just spitballin
Their corners don’t travel, so Ceedee was seeing a lot of DJ Reed. Sauce and Gallup were matched up a bunch which didn’t bode well for Gallup.

As stated earlier, this a 1000% but I think we'll have better read after a few more games.

its week 3. Lets see come week 7 if things are unchanged. THEN we can address this mg issue. Trade Bait or a likely IR candidate if he is underperforming still.

Lol. I'm not sure that's a good game plan. Maybe remove CD and make Dak throw to Gallup would be the better plan. Just sayin.

Mothership reading my posts again. Posted this after the Sunday game. They did a big segment on him on The Break. Broaddus says he no longer fits the scheme

We have had a Gallup problem since they paid big bucks to a number 3 receiver

And now that Tolbert looks ready to take on that role he will be traded or released this next off-season

All this Gallup nonsense, sheesh!

Dude is almost never the 1st read.
Lamb gets all the targets.

"Seperation". How about Gallup pulling two defenders to the middle
of the field mid-route while Lamb drags across. Gallup was open.
Lamb was wide open. Just as the play was drawn up. Thing is, Gallup
would've scored because he was deep and between the hashes.

Too many fans jump to find something, anything, to complain about.
To quote an old coach,
"You think you know, but you don't know and you never will".

It never made any sense to re-sign Gallup after a serious injury. I said, at the time I would have rather kept Cedrick Wilson, who had played well for us when given opportunities. Gallup clearly isn’t the same player he was and the short passing game doesn’t seem to fit him. When he was playing his best football, he made most of his plays down the field. Would be difficult to trade him with the way he’s performed.

We have other prospects and thankfully Cooks is coming back.

We need to continue developing Ferguson, Schoonmaker, Vaughn, Tolbert, and Luepke. Those guys and Lamb, Pollard, and Cooks look the best to this point.

Gallup just has no quickness or speed right now and that doesn't work when all the guys above do have it.

It's NOT week 3....it's week 20 something since he has been back...and he looks just as inept as last season. He is LAST in the ENTIRE NFL in yards run per play. You CANNOT afford to sit back and possibly risk losses and seeding waiting for a "good guy" to turn things around. Tolbert needs to be starting and getting the valuable reps needed. Some of y'all are soooo stuck in neutral.

I had someone here arguing with me the other day that Gallup isn’t producing because it’s the design of the offense.

This doesn’t bother me at all….yet. I don’t really care how many catches Gallup ever gets as long as the offense is moving the ball and scoring. He’s the third or fourth option at best. Is he running screens and pics for others? Is he hustling and blocking? Is he ever the top or second read? We have all been told that Mike is running a fast paced offense and getting the ball out of Dak’s hands before any pass rush can be effective. Read 1; Read 2; check down. How often is he targeted? If he can’t or isn’t cutting it as needed, we have Tolbert. But currently, why worry about a WR who may be doing his job in the context of the offense. I don’t see Mike as a guy who will continue to play a player who isn’t doing his job well.

I think we're 2 games into the season.

The offense has been somewhat vanilla because it's been good enough to get through the defenses they've seen.

I do think Lamb has hit another level in his ability to get separation and I think Dak sees it...looks for it. Makes Dak's job easier

I think little by little they'll open up the offense and start working in other players more...like Gallup.

We're 2 games into the season. 15 more to go. Patience folks...patience

OK then...if our offense is moving, why don't we just play with four (4) on the offensive line. If we are scoring points, lets just let our punter and kicker use their left leg,

An attempt at snarky humor. And a whiff.

Although, I bet the kicker could make XPs with his left foot.
Also, I bet the punter can "coffin corner" from midfield left-footed.

The former OC ran his final play with the team that had only one
interior lineman, the center, which was actually the team's RB.
So, you're late to the game of ridiculousness on that one.

Nah, I'd rather have a former 1100 yard WR out there handling his assignments each play while waiting on the HC to call his number.
