Do the Cowboys have enough pass rushers?

Maybe he becomes a similar player to Fowler, who was pretty much a rush specialist. Still need to someone to pick up the loss production for Armstrong. No, he was more of a clean up sack guy, but still had over 8 sacks last season.

Two quality pass rushers departed to Washington with Dan Quinn in Armstrong, Fowler. All the Cowboys have added is a small schooled prospect who is considered more of a run stopper in Kneeland. Yes, Sam Williams is expected to take on a larger role, but he has been untrustworthy in the past.

There are a few free agents that certainly can help as rotational pieces: Ngakoue, Lawson and a few others.
Armstrong and Fowler were not quality pass rushers last season. The pass rush was basically Parsons and JAGS. Sam Williams has the potential to be better than Fowler and Armstrong. The Cowboys need to attack the defensive line in next year’s draft like they did the offensive line in this one.

Long gone are the days carrying a total of 7 Dline on the roster.
No, I don’t think we need to bring in anyone else. I think Fowler stole snaps that should have been going to Williams and Goulston last season. They couldn’t even get Fehoku on the field. They had to keep Wheat on the active roster all last season so as not to be pilched off the practice squad while they worked on his transition from a 34 OLB to a DE. Kid had 17 sacks in the SEC… that’s nothing to sneeze at. Let’s let them play instead of picking up rapidly declining, injury prone vets no one else has seen fit to sniff at. If they pick up a Dline it needs to be a 3tech.

We’ve needed a 2nd stud pass rusher opposite of Parsons for a while.

DT or DE just someone else that can be consistent.

Johnny Newton sure would look good in a Cowboys uniform. Sigh…

As we have discussed, team just went into the draft with too many needs. Right now, it appears Edge, DT and Wide Receiver are the priority needs for next offseason. For this year, team really needs Sam Williams to breakout and add another rotational type for depth. Kneeland is the wild card, but probably more of a dirty work guy to set up his teammates, especially as a rookie. Could see him in the nickel rushing inside and blowing up pockets with his bull rush, which could force the QB to move towards the outside where our edge rushers will be.

I think you let it play out in camp/pre-season games and then make the determination if they need to add another guy or not.

Both have been quality rotational players the last two seasons. Sam Williams may have the potential, but the prior staff fell out of favor due to his bonehead mistakes, where he was relegated to special teams where he continued to make stupid mistakes. They really are counting on him to breakout this season, which is a big gamble to expect. After him, we have more run type of lineman. Also, we have to factor in Zimmer's scheme, he isn't going to be so aggressive, thus making it harder to consistently rush the passer.

Except he's not a pass rusher. They basically drafted a run stopping DE at 56.
This defense has to get better stopping the run or it won't matter who is rushing the passer. Kneeland does help them accomplish that.

Sam Williams can be either a savior or a curse, depending on what he does at the moment. He's like a junkyard dog that doesn't know when to ease up and be civil. He'll get some of the most outrageous penalties due to that tendency. Nevertheless, he'll get his chances to play smarter this coming season. He needs seasoning, no doubt.

We'll see whether it's wise to either pull for him or disrespect him for some of his bonehead miscues. He's intense, though! Let's hope he learns when to be that way and/or when to let up. He's young yet, but might he somehow manage to develop properly? We'll see about that. ;)

Will matter if we can't stop the run up the middle?

I can see Hurts sneaking for 6 yards a carry.
