Do the Rams crash and burn for several years now?

That’s a great question.

But if you’ve just won a championship does anyone really care if you go south for a few years.

After almost 30 years would Cowboy fans give up 4 or 5 years of the future for another championship?

Who cares ? they got their SB win.
Ask yourself :
Would you be willing to be a doormat for 3 to 5 years if you got the Lombardi ?
I would !!!!!!!

Exactly!!! Since our last super bowl, the Rams - not exactly a flagship organization - were able to build a team that went to two Superbowls, winning one and had a nice run, then they were down for a bit and then rebuilt their team and so far have been to two Superbowls winning one.

I would GLADLY have a few down years if we could average two Superbowl appearances per decade with one championship per decade. Who wouldn't? Well, I guess Jerry.

Any player that’s a FA or due a contract will be offered more elsewhere. They will get picked apart if they don’t have the money to retain these players.

The Rams would be smart to offer Stafford an extension now. Lower his 2022 Base salary to minimum and then just offer gtd roster bonuses in future years(to reduce the signing bonus proration early on) and a market level signing bonus. Maybe Stafford would be willing not to get the biggest deal in order to try to win more rings than cash. Who knows.

They should easily get under the cap with a few moves and depending on how much they want to mortgage, they can restructure deals to try for a repeat.

they don't have first round picks. they have aging veterans. they may compete for another year, but wheels will come off and they have to rebuild through fire sale. they were not built for long term run. but they did get a superbowl trophy....t

When I read the OP's original post, I was trying to think of how best to answer what my thoughts are but you nailed it... If you're going to be all in, you're not going to have first round picks for a few years. You're going to be over the cap if needed, you're going to go after stud FA's... I guess it depends on what your mindset is....

Since we've been struggling along for the last 26 years and holding, 5 years sounds like next to nothing. Trying to convince our FO to abandon their foolish spending, followed by cheapskate ways, might be a yeoman's task and then some, however. They seem too stubborn to change.

true. great if it works. ala Rams. but it can also back fire. its very risky. I guess it worked for Rams, but doubt if with Jerry it will ever work in Dallas. too much meddling. and as soon as we see some success, Jerry is front and center to stir things up

Let the coaches coach, let the scouts scout... What an interesting concept. Too bad that has never been thought about.... LOL

They did this a few years back and got to the SB and lost. They won it now. Who cares if they have to take a year or 2 off from competing in ANOTHER SB.

But hey we are building solely through the draft and paying top dollar for retain those players to compete for middle of the pack.

I don't know if the Rams will crash and burn, but they'll have to do without their OC, Kevin O'Connell. FS1 just reported that the Vikings have named him their new HC.

long as they have mcvay (if he sticks around) OC is of very little concern

I don't know about crash and burn, but they'll face some headwinds just like any team does. They're going to pay a boatload for Kupp after next year plus Stafford is due for one last payday.

Really hard to build legacies in this league with the parity we are seeing.

They'll be fine. With how they built their team they are in a better position than we are.

When you hand out stupid contracts like we do you have to covet your pics to balance out the overspending on average players who can no longer live up to the guaranteed money you gave them. That is the opposite of what the rams do. The guys they pay are still worth it performing at a high level. Their top 5 guys on the books are aaron donald, cooper kupp, leonard floyd, robert woods, jaylen ramsey, and assuming they get a new deal matthew stafford. In essence what they do is spend picks to get guys they know are good/great instead of the crap shoot we call a draft. They do a better job of not paying guys who suck than many clubs like we tend to do cause we pay based on feelings rather than logic. You can pickup decent free agents that can help the club fairly inexpensively, stephen jones has been doing that for a few years now and the rams can do the same to plug holes as needed.
