Do the WR math

Old jerrah ain't giving up on Dak this soon.
He doesn’t have to but he could hedge his bet plus provide some competition.

We’ve taken risk and wasted picks on top round picks at other positions in many drafts why not on a QB?

Placing all our eggs in Daks basket is risky as well.

If we don’t have a legit prolific QB nothing else will matter.

Has it occurred that the meeting with Jones tomorrow will be the watershed moment for Dez? Jones will ask for a pay cut. Dez will make a decision. Jones will try to sell him on the idea. The decision Dez makes COULD lead to his release.

Nice try.. but read the threads on this board and you will see how much venom is spewed at Dez and how much at the coaches.
It’s funny how this time last year no one was crying about Dezs contract or numbers.

Suddenly you have a coach in philly winning super bowls with backup QBs and Dak struggling and it must be Dezs fault..pathetic. When your entire WR Corp struggles at the same time maybe you should peel back a layer and look deeper.

Dez had The same numbers as Alshon Jeffery last year. 1 guy gets a Super Bowl ring and a fat contract, the other guy get a heavy finger pointed at him...
Weird isn’t it?
There were a handful of us that never thought the Dez contract was a good one at all.

If Dez stays, and I hope he does, let's hope that this new Dak friendly offense is also Dez friendly too.

We kept Garrett and Linehan. We obviously needed a change up with how we used our WRs last year, and they came up with nothing. I don't see any reason to think that changes.

Let's say that Dallas cuts Dez and is hoping to replace him with a draft pick. Let's take a look at the first round receivers from the past several years and let me know if any of these guys excites you?

2017:
7. Mike Williams.
9. John Ross

2016:
15. Corey Coleman
21. Will Fuller
22. Josh Docton
23. Laquon Treadwell

2015:
4. Amari Cooper
14. Devante Parker
20. Nelson Agholor
26. Breshad Perryman
29. Phillip Dorsett

I really think that taking a receiver at 19 would be a horrible idea. I know that it was posted in other threads the % of routes that Dez ran last year. 29% was a 9 route. Coincidentally, he ran a comeback at 3%, really!!?? 3%? That is a great compliment route if you are constantly running the 9 Route. If Dez stays, and I hope he does, let's hope that this new Dak friendly offense is also Dez friendly too.
This wide receiver crowd on here is amazing to me. Same people will be whining about the defense not closing out games in the 4th though. Funny stuff

*Hurns
Dez
XXThomasXX Thompson
*Beasley
Switzer
*Williams
Brown
Draft pick in rounds 1-3

How many receivers do you need?

If we draft one 1-2, we drop Dez.

With 7 guys, what is the chance that they all make it through camp and preseason healthy? Not that high. One of the 7 probably starts the season on PUP. If not, Brown looks like the guy who is gone.

If we get a deep threat, we could conceivably cut Thompson. He only has 1million guaranteed. He is a disposable insurance policy. Maybe they like Noah, and dislike Thompson, enough to drop Thompson to keep Noah.

Injuries happen. 7 guys, with a couple you can cut without crying about it, is probably the right number to go into camp with.

We could keep Dez through camp as an insurance policy too, but I bet we don't turn the screws on him like that.

Dez mostly knows whats going on because Players dont negotiate contracts agents do. Am I wrong?

So the one who should be targeted is Linehan and Beasley...or really just Linehan...
Yet here all these folks are allowing JG, Linehan and company to blame Dez to save their own butts, and you are carrying there pail for them.

The big problem is that Dez was not performing like a true #1 and couldn't help Dak. Now, with his bloated contract, he's
not worth the money and cap space he is taking. Dez is just not good enough to force defenses to commit two resources
to cover him any longer.

Like always, the agents will present the facts to Dez and he will have to choose. If other teams have been talking to his agents, then
Jerry has to also make a decision to hold onto him until the draft and after to see if someone wants to trade. If you can get
anything for him, it's a bonus.

it sesm crowded but reality is i bet only Switzer and possibly hurns are here for 2019 roster so we really need more young guys so keeping them all this season seems legitlatmy but if tthey are looking to take 1-2 WR to develop for 2019 2 need to go at minimum.. its time to try and Trade Twill and beasly and if dez goes thats 3 and now we have a few WR Like Switzer to continue to develop and put some Draftees in and let them be baptized in the ,ine of fire.. how can it be much worse than last year..
Hypothtical line up 2018

Hurns starting at Wide out Dreftee backup gets a good amount of playing time
Swittzer at slot with Thomas backing im up at both Returner and slot
Twill on IR and brought back if deoth is neded, too big of contract and injury now make trades tough
2nd round draft pick starts at the other WO no matter how bad he plays to begin with.. let him learn

2019

Switzer starts at slot

2018 Draftee new starter/2018 new draftee backing up

2019 1st round pick on a WR hopefully its a late bottom five pick :))

Noah Brown finally makes it as a regular?

so now these guys are all DAK guys and lots of chemistry and comfort there not to have to force ti to old players?

I would be shocked if we move on from Dez. Just looking at the history between he and JJ...and the fact JJ is the one meeting him, tells me all the hype is likely just that. DEZ SHOULD BE HERE.

The fans on this board aren't the team. and it doesn't make sense to condemn the team because you don't like what fans say about a player. But here it is a few days later and Dez has actually been cut now, so go ahead and start in on the team if you think it was the wrong choice
