Do we have a stupid team?

OL Penalties...
Crayton dangling the ball instead of covering up with both hands. I mean how many times do you have to fumble before you figure it out.
Broken tackles due to not wrapping guys up...

I was hopeful this stuff would go away when Wade took over but it is still here. People blamed Parcells but our team is still making the same dumb mistakes as last year. This is basic football so there is no excuse.

I know we are 6-1 but NE is a perfect example you won't get away with it against good teams. After the bye we play some tough football. Will we correct the mistakes or continue to shoot ourself in the foot?

We are a stupid team until proven otherwise.

Actually it is a league wide thing and a lot has to do with coaching. I know at the HS level coaches can't be nearly as tough as they used to be.

We certainly do need to tighten things up and that falls to Wade and the coaches drilling it into these guys heads NO MISTAKES. It's also been said by many our tackling needs to get better as well, and it does.

I really wonder what this place would be like if our team was the Saints, or the Bears, or the Chargers.

Why are we "dumb"? Because Crayton fumbled? Because Romo fumbled?

Some of our penalties are dumb, and maybe those repeat offenders are dumb players. But I don't know how you say the team as a whole is dumb.

We do make a lot of stupid penalties, many of those coming at crucial times.

I would call it undisciplined........not stupid.

I think Crayton is young and will make these type of mistakes being put in the spotlight. If I can recall, this is his first fumble this year. Other than Romo, our offense is doing a good job minimizing turnovers...

I think the broken tackles is a result of players trying to get big hits and forcing fumbles. I saw them trying to hit the ball out instead of wrap up today. Its the price you pay when you change from discipline tackle and stop yards after catch to make the big plays and earn the game ball. I felt like we were tackling better with Parcells...

Regarding penalties, we are definitely giving up too much. In the beginning of the season they would happen on small plays or in completions allowing us like a retry and we would get big chunks of yardage, but they are starting to erase critical plays...

Crayton's fumble was a perfectly timed play by the DB. He punched the ball out as Crayton was trying to pull it in closer to his body. You really can't blame Crayton for that one.

But as far as pre snap penalties and dumb OL holding calls need to get cleaned up.

What does this have to do with other teams? I asked if you thought the Cowboys are a dumb team. Comparing them to another team based off a win loss record has nothing to do with dumb mistakes.

This is a team sport.

Good point about crucial times.

I miss the discipline on Jimmy Johnsons teams.

Don't have the bandwidth to research but Crayton has always been cavalier with the ball. I doubt that is his attitude but it is the way he carries the ball. And I believe he has fumbled before today although I'm not certain it hurt us.

He can learn but he needs to learn quickly. We aren't likely to get away with turnovers against the rest of the East. He needs to practice holding on to the ball. That is the coaches responsibility. I'd come down hard on him.

And tackling is apparently not cool anymore. Many seem intent on delivering big hits. I KNOW this can lead to missed tackles. Not only do people bounce off but you can take bad angles and just have your head up your arse trying to kill the guy rather than making sure you get a good tackle. That is not only the Boys but seems to be a lot of the league. And that is also the coaches responsibility.

Same with the false starts. Yada yada. They aren't stupid at this level. Well not most. It's just bad habits.

So not wrapping up on tackles is smart.
False start penalties is smart.
Crayton refusing to wrap the ball up is smart.

What does that make you?

Ha, agreed, they seem to be out in full force ever since the Patriots won.

Denying it only shows your ignorance because the two of you are in the minority.

Crayton may swing the ball around at times, but on his fumble today he looked to have it tucked away pretty well -- he just wasn't expecting to get blasted in the back by that DB.

I'm not denying a thing. Yes penalties suck and they need to be cut down, beating a dead horse there. I hate to tell you this, but all teams fumble the ball every once in awhile. But calling a team stupid because of it is just, well, stupid.

It was a good play but he doesn't tuck the ball. Watch TO and TG when they make a catch. They tuck it immediately and when they hit traffic they cover up with both hands. That is smart football and sound fundamentals. Crayton on the other hand is always loose with the ball. Parcells always complained about it and no matter how many times Crayton loses the ball he doesn't change.

That in my opinion is stupid.

That is one aspect and your missing the point. They are stupid for the same mistakes over and over again.
