Do we have the right weapons on this offense?

Everyone was excited about the addition of Brandin Cooks but he hasn’t done much.
Only 11 targets in 3 games. How do you expect much from him if you throw him the ball? Just like most complaining about Gallup last week. 4 targets in 2 games then last week he gets 7 and generated 92 yards from them.

Cooks missed one game, but to get targets you need to get open. There’s been an issue with our WR’s getting separation, which is one reason none of them have any TDs. Gallup had a good game on Sunday because of all the criticism he’s received and the team made a concerted effort to get him the ball.

Sucks that teams we play against always seem to have a guy wide open, why can't we do this

We’re clearly feeling the losses of Zeke and Dalton Schultz. They combined for 17 TDs last season. Both were very valuable in the redzone and the loss of both players has hurt us in that area. Zeke was able to pound the ball in and Schultz found seams in the endzone.

Pollard had a really good game in a losing cause, but Rico Dowdle was also very effective in his limited snaps, averaging the same 5.3 yards per carry as Pollard. That is exactly what you like to see from your RB2 when he gives RB1 a breather. Dowdle also scored the only touchdown for Dallas on a 15-yard catch and run, the lone red zone success of the game for them.

Brandin Cooks was on the field for 80% of the offensive plays, but only had two catches on seven targets for seventeen yards. He has yet to have the expected impact for the team, and that has to be a bit concerning. Jalen Tolbert was limited in his usage and never saw a target, and Peyton Hendershot and Luke Schoonmaker were basically absent as receivers, with just two targets and one catch between them.

For Dak to be successful and lead us into the Superbowl. I thought we made some moves this off season that were geared to help this offense move. What are your thoughts on the help we've given him. Does he need more, I think we can agree that OL help would be most needed!
YPT
Cooks - 3.5
Pollard - 3.4

Fastest guys on offense. Send them deep and target them. Hard for WRs to get separation when you don't stretch the field.

Well, Big Mike left Deuce n Turp on the sideline, they have some juice. Also, would like to see the TEs run more vertical routes. Lastly, Luepke looked like he has something, and I'm interested in more touches for him, maybe even as a short yardage RB.

No, we didn't have an offensive line, for crying out loud.

The Cowboys played without the only three O-linemen that has been a Pro Bowl selection and replaced them with two rookie undrafted free agents and a guy that hasn't started a seasons worth of games in his five year career.

The offensive line is the main weapon in an offense. Without them, these skill players can do absolutely nothing.

To make it worse, the injuries happened two days before the game. Do you seriously think these rookies were prepared to go out there and start? Please!

This team was screwed by circumstances, that's all that happened on Sunday.

What we really need to talk about is why the defense didn't have their back. Based on the performances of the defense in the two previous games, the Cowboys should still have won. What happened?

Well, they lost an All Pro CB, one of the biggest defensive playmakers in the NFL. So the coaches decided to move Bland to the outside, making sure that two positions changed starters instead of one. Then they inserted a guy that had not been on the field since game #6 last season. What did they expect?
The offensive line and the cornerback we're not really the problem.

We could not stop the run that was the problem 200 plus yards took us out of our comfort zone where we rushed the passer and look unbeatable.

The offensive line allowed us to move the ball in between the twenties we just could not score in the red zone we had no finisher when we got down there.

Hard to say exactly whose fault it was but you surely need a coach that can come up with plays in that tight area that will get the ball in the end zone along with a quarterback capable of executing those plays and skill players that do their jobs the offensive line was really not that bad

We had six more first downs 10 minutes more time of possession more passing yards and 188 yd of rushing ourselves granted we had some penalties and shot ourselves in the foot and a turnover but we certainly had enough opportunity to get the ball in the end zone and we didn't do it

We don't have a finisher we don't have a guy that can close out a game.
That's not to say that it necessarily has to be a skill position player a guy like Larry Allen changed the whole game you need a yard you run behind him.
On offense we have no one that anybody fears I watch there's God forsaken eagles and every time they need a yard they get one and get a first down.
Haven't had a finisher type player since Marion Barber.
We are soft and get punched in the mouth and can't even score in the Red zone we have no one that can impose their will and get it done
I thought Hunter did well on the couple of touches he had.

All three of our starting receivers have had 1,000 yards seasons.

It's not the receivers. Some times the QB had to cut it loose and let them make a play. Dak played scared last Sunday and the coaches knew it, hence no passing at the end of the game in the red zone.

Cooks hasn’t had a 1000 yard season since 2021 and Michael Gallup hasn’t had a 1000 yard season since 2019. Not saying it’s all the receivers but they’re not getting separation. We need to find a way to stretch the field.
