Do we match Davis offer or let him go?

2 year 3.5 million deal with the New Orleans Saints.

I like him, but not for 3.5 mil for 2 yrs.

We will either draft FS or corner/move Henry to FS...Pile is now back up FS.

The Cowboys need to match this offer, his special team play is worth the price alone.

2 million/yr can get you an All-Pro linebacker. I don't see the point in matching..

We've put ourselves in a position where we have no choice but to match. Either way: good for Keith Davis. His payday has come. Congratulations.

No....that is close to 2 million a year to play special teams and be a back-up FS.

Too rich for my blood. He'll put his hat on you, but he's not worth that kind of bank.

I say yes, good special teamer and a solid back up in case of injury. A FS in the draft even if it's a high pick doesn't mean they can play to an NFL standard straight away.

Match it and still sign Marcus Coleman so Davis can be a full time special teamer. Davis can play some nickel/dime spots and also be a safety net in case Coleman goes down.

door. we could draft a dead body in the 5th that plays better at FS than Davis.

They need a replacement CB/FS for Davis, not a LB. For a little more (than 2.5 Mil) they should be able to sign Woodson and for a bit less, they couls sign Coleman.

No , he's basically a back up anyways imo . Too much too pay a special teams player . If we want to pay a safety 1.75 a year ,we can get someone better than Davis . Berry-O is better than him already

I don't know the exact pub to person ratio in Ireland but it's disturbingly high. I haven't heard of it, but if it's in Dublin I can find out. Do you know what county it's in?

My 1st thought is don't match. But I need to know if we get something for him (draft picks wise) if we don't match and they sign him? If anyone knows..

I say match it. Davis was an undrafted FA so we get nothing in return if we don't match. He has a full year under his belt at the position and will be better this season. If we had a deal in place to get a guy like Woodson to play FS then I would say let him go, but I would much rather sign him to the deal and draft some kid and let them duke it out for the job rather than just rely on Pile and a 1st year rookie. Not to mention that his presence on STs is undeniable. If we draft a kid and he beats out Davis then I'm cool with that, but there's no need to make this position any weaker than it already is and not matching the offer would be just that. I'd hate to see him turn into another Jimmy Williams or Oliver Ross or Ron Stone (guys that we just didn't give enough time only to be a Pro Bowler for someone else).

It depends- if we feel confident about the condition of Justin Beriault's knee going forward, I'd say no way. But I'm not sure how we'd be able to know that. It's a lot of money for a backup and I really don't want him starting. I'd be leaning towards no in any case.
