Do we match Davis offer or let him go?

See ya later bye, Keith. Good luck in New Orleans. You just don't fork over that kind of money for a guy to play ST. We need someone with better range back there.

If we didn't want to pay a reserve offensive tackle in the 1 million range, there's no way we can justify it for a mistyped free safety who we want to replace anyway.

Losing Davis will hurt our coverage units, but it also increase the odds of finally signing at least one genuine free safety prospect.

A rare species not seen in this parts since the days of George Teague.

An utterly inexplicable drought, IMO.

Gotta go with Berry-O and Dixon and whoever we draft at FS. I find it amazing that New Orleans has probably just forced the Cowboys to decide one way or another whether or not they will draft a FS in the upcoming draft.

Please tell me he didn't just say Dixon.

Thing with Davis is he is still young, I like young players with something to prove. He isn't a slacker on effort and plays special teams like no one else on the entire roster.

You can't really compare Dixon or Scott to Davis in any realistic since, the talant gap is substantial therefore Davis should be retained.

the conclusion to this thread is that Parcells is in love with special teamers and Davis is definately a great special teamer and come on now, out of our 4 SS him and R. Williams are the only 2 that have any real value to our team. and he wears #29 that should make us want to keep him alone.

Davis struggled in coverage, and wasn't that good supporting the run. That's way more money than a special teamer should earn. Let the ain'ts have him.

I say we sign him. I think it's funny seeing so many fans saying that that salary is waaay to much for him. It's not our money. If you look around football, basketball, and baseball, average players are now receiving higher salaries. I hope we match the offer. We saw what happened on special teams when he just played only defense. The special teams suffered. You can NEVER have enough good special team guys. Davis has earned the contract looking at how far he's come. Yes, he sure struggles in coverage but how many more guys that have contributed during the Parcells era can we stand to lose. Are yall ready to start trusting Beriault? In the grand scheme, that offer sheet is peanuts. We have the cap space and we'll still have plenty of cap space if we match. Get it done Jerry!

Since it was his first full year playing the position, his ST contribution, big hitter on D, and I still don't see our alternative, I say we keep him. anyway what are we doing with the extra cap space? are we signing up our core guys to extensions? if we need the $ for our core guys, then let him go. if not, keep him.

I personally like him and hoped he could play FS but he has not performed as hoped and not sure he has the aptitude or athleticism to play that position. Excellent on special teams and BP likes him but not sure he likes him enough to pay that kind of money.

I say match it, because Keith Davis is one hell of a special teams players, and the last part of the year he showed flashes of how much he can contribute to our defense.

Look at the Commanders game when he laid the Tight End Out..<Honestly I thought it was Roy Williams.:dissskin: :flex:

He really showed something against St. Louis Rams. So we can't just say hey let em go.. This is not Torrin Tucker we talking about...

Keith Davis is a player that contributes in alot of ways for our team and plus he has a nasty attitude out on the field... He plays with a intensive mean-streak.

FYI:: It's takes time... He's just not use to starting... We need to sign him back and groom him more... He's a hard hitter and he's catching on .... soon we could have a pro bowl safety... Keith Davis has alot of potential... He just need time and a mentor like Marcus Coleman to teach him more about the free safety position...

I think it is kinda funny how much some people on this board gripe and moan about our "old" guys and we need to get younger, but are also the first to say get rid of a young kid if he don't perform to pro bowl status. I say keep this kid, he has potential and I think he will be our starter game 1 at the FS position if we keep him. I hope we do, I would hate to see him go to the saints, get some playing time and turn in to the player I think he can, with another team.
