Do we need a 1 Wr?

My two cents is that the ball delivery system for our thoroughbred offensive athletes is average to above average. We have a defense that can keep us in most games if the person designated as the ball delivery system does not allow their reach to extend past their grasp. As the QB goes so goes the offense, like most NFL teams, the Eagles' most challenging offense they will face going down the stretch will be the Cowboys. The boys have the Vikings, Packers, and Titans.

I feel that we don't need a #1, but guys that can get open and be available to Dak. We saw the fallout with having Cooper here who everyone said was his number 1. They made it seem that Dak doesn't need a #1 because all it does is forces him to get the ball to a certain player.

I think Dak is more comfortable finding the open guy, instead of being obligated to throw to your expensive #1 option. We feel that we need a #1 because we have to have a go to guy, to make big plays for us.

I'm curious to see what happens in the future. Please give me your thoughts
In a perfect world, yes.
But we have a solid group of widereceivers
Just got to get them the ball.
And hey no dropping

The OP is a bit tricky. I think we have enough offensively to accomplish our goals for the season without one. However, this is extremely dependant on Kellen Moore. You're not gonna drop back 40+ times with this group and expect to win against the better teams. We need our RBs to be able to get 25-35 touches combined.

Let’s look at the end of the year and see who did what stat wise. I bet you Amari fades as the cold weather rolls in and Ceedee end up with a better season.

But I get you
Amari playin with jacoby brisett and still puttin up decent numbers

Cooper Rush is worse than Jacoby talent wise my dawg. I think Coop and Amari have both had similar circumstances so far.

We’ll see how it ends up but based on what I’ve seen so far outside of the mental lapses I like. With Dak, Ceedee has top 10 stats this year no doubt.

My two cents: call Pittsburgh and see what it would take to trade for WR Chase Claypool.

The Steelers drafted Pickens this year making Claypool expendable. Claypool is a free agent after the 2024 season with a '24 cap hit of $2.1M and is a 6' 4" 238 pounds big bodied WR that 800+ yard receiving seasons his first 2 seasons.

This move would allow Lamb to slide into the slot position where he is better suited and give Dallas a trio WR corp of Claypool/Gallup/Lamb which would dramatically improve things for Dak and the passing offense.

I just heard Cavanaugh say we should sign OBJ……:facepalm: On the same show he said Gallup does not look right after the ACL injury. Well Sherlock OBJ has had two ACL injuries in the last two seasons. What is it with his obsession with wide receivers.

Cowboys scored 64 touchdowns last year so I would like to know how they did that if Dak couldn't get the ball to his receivers.

Dez Bryant was getting hurt a lot and wasn't the same Dez the two years he and Dak played together and Amari Cooper was disappearing far too often for the money he was making.
Keep the TDs stats, when it mattered the most the man didn't get guys the ball. It's nothing new, that's why there's so much debate on him.

I'm not pissing on Dak - the answer to the question is you don't need a #1 receiver, you need a QB who can make his guys look like #1's.

Look at a guy like Brady - outside of Moss, he had castoffs and no-names but they got rings. Mahomes has a collection of guys at the WR spot.

And Dallas clearly values Lamb as the #1 - they drafted him high, he wears #88, etc. We don't need another high-priced acquisition, we just need to execute with the playcalling and playmakers that we have.

The only problem is Dallas will not execute. As you said the reason why can be on another topic but its been hashed and rehashed multiple times.

We definitely should have kept Amari Cooper. Especially after the WR market exploded, his contract isn't even bad any more. He earns the same per season now as Brandin Cooks and Keenan Allen.

WR is the 2nd most valuable position in football right now per PFF's WAR, so you should always be on the lookout to add good wideouts. Especially if they've got the talent to play on the boundary.

We are 3-1 with a backup QB. If Dak can’t elevate this team to where it’s competitive in the playoffs with the receivers we have then he’s not the guy….simple.

And I agree we should have kept Cooper.

While I get where you are coming that doesn’t mean Gallup won’t come good in time or that OBJ can’t contribute come playoff time. With our schedule we really should earn that wild card spot and if we add OBJ WR group then by playoff time they’d be as good as any IMO.
