Do we need a 1 Wr?

I don’t think this team needs another WR at this point. Especially a high priced one. I also think as several on this thread have mentioned- having a so called #1 receiver is overrated. Sure it would be nice to have a stud like Cooper Kupp, Tyreek Hill or Jamarr Chase. But what’s more important is having a complete set of WRs that collectively work well together with your QB and the offense.

With most teams running 3-4 wideouts every play, having a clear #1 is not as important as moving the chains and scoring. If three different receivers are capable of that for less money than overpaying a guy who in 2-3 years won’t be worth it, that’s the way to go. I’m not a big fan of paying premium price for WR.

I know a lot of people disagree with me on this but I’m not that on-board about re-signing Cedee Lamb for big money in a year from now.

Ya Lamb hasn’t shown big money talent yet. He’ll get paid but it won’t be top 5 money for sure. But the receiver market is catching up to the qb market and last year’s playoffs proved that the teams with the best receivers win. 49ers, Rams, Bengals, and Chiefs all had elite WRs. Proof is in the pudding right?

I feel that we don't need a #1, but guys that can get open and be available to Dak. We saw the fallout with having Cooper here who everyone said was his number 1. They made it seem that Dak doesn't need a #1 because all it does is forces him to get the ball to a certain player.

I think Dak is more comfortable finding the open guy, instead of being obligated to throw to your expensive #1 option. We feel that we need a #1 because we have to have a go to guy, to make big plays for us.

I'm curious to see what happens in the future. Please give me your thoughts

The trade was dumb, but Cooper was not worth 22 million. Cooper was 1000 yards and 6-8 TD's per year. Gallup gets that no problem and for less money. Plus that was a 3 year contract so we would have been on the hook for 3 years. Gotta pay Lamb before then. Wouldnt work out.
When did gallup do that with 2 legs? And pretty sure it was $20m a year. 5 year 100m

Its not based off one game its based on what hes done in his nfl career. Hes near the top in drops since hes been in the league
I hear ya but Amari struggled with drops his first 3 years. Give Ceedee time, he’s been the true #1 for all of 6 weeks and is still 15th in yardage despite a run-first offense and a backup QB.

I agree he’s had a few mental errors but I definitely think he can outgrow that as he comes into his own as a 1.

What I’m most happy about is he’s consistently the passing game focus for the opposing defenses but he’s still getting open at a healthy rate. That will bode well when QB1 is back.

Yes. Ceedee is a WR 2 at best. He can't separate with any consistency. Now this could be due to scheme because Kellen Moore's scheme is terrible and utilizing the strengths of his weapons. It's the same when Dez left and the guys behind him were exposed.
Have you watched the all-22 week in and week out? Lamb has been open constantly lol. Dude is 15th in receiving yards with a run first offense and backup QB.

Shoot, Rush throws a good pass on Sunday night and Ceedee would be even higher.

Is he an elite 1? No, there are only 5-6 of those at any given time. Is he a guy who can produce as the WR1? Yes he can.

We have one

Ceedee is on pace for over 90 catches and 1100 yards and did that mostly with a backup QB

Hes 17th in catches and 15th in yards. He is above Amari Cooper in both of these categories Thats #1 production right there
Let em know!

He dont even consistently win outside. He does most of his damage out of the slot thats not a #1 for me

He was winning outside versus Philly lol had Bradberry on skates on that bad throw pick. I do get the criticism though my only thing is give the dude time to grow into it. I think he definitely has the ability but a lot of firsts for him this year being the unquestioned 1.

Tom Brady has sucked lately. That's because he does have several #1 WRs playing for him. Clearly, Brady has not made his receivers better.

I believe age and his divorce are playing large into that. Supposedly he partied in New York and flew to Pittsburgh himself. Definitely doesn't seem team Bradyish.

thats what they did with rush, they made him throw to lamb and gallup, when he was better throwing to brown.
Jerry wants to prove lamb is a # 1, and so lamb will get the most targets each game regardless of how he does.

I’ll bet most posters will take those 37 TD’s he threw for last season right about now. The best way to play complimentary football is to get a lead and let the other team pass on us. That feeds right into the strength of this D.

If Dak had support from the kind of defense Dallas played during Rush's four wins- giving up no more than 19 points per game- than Dallas would have been 15-2 in 2021. Would have lost only to the Broncos and Raiders.

Who were his wrs in the mvp years?

It's a fair point, but some of those receivers like Cobb, Nelson, and Jennings, fell way off when they left. I've watched Rodgers a ton, we all have our biases, but he has definitely elevated his teamates. He isn't the same at least so far this year, he definitely doesn't have youth on his side anymore though. Dak isn't in the same stratosphere.

No Coog. Dak had 2 (Dez/Amari) #1 WRs and for some reason couldn't get them the ball. Why bring in another guy to go thru the same thing?

Run the ball well and use PA off that to open up bigger windows for Dak to throw to..that has always been the best way for him, imho.

Lastly, Dak's #1 is Dalton Shultz. Maybe we can see Fergnshot have a breakout game.

Cowboys scored 64 touchdowns last year so I would like to know how they did that if Dak couldn't get the ball to his receivers.

Dez Bryant was getting hurt a lot and wasn't the same Dez the two years he and Dak played together and Amari Cooper was disappearing far too often for the money he was making.

It doesnt work like that

Dak gets into a conservative shell when the game is close. This team wouldnt have scored as many points

Well who is a sub 4.4 receiver for the team to grab, we do not need a big body guy, we need someone who can seperate? OBJ and Cooks fill those rolls, but someone spitball someone else, maybe lesser known.

He does? Than how did the Cowboys win games against the Chargers, Panthers, Patriots, Saints, and Commanders last year? None of those were blowouts.
