Do we need a possession receiver or one that's good at getting separation?

Dhop to me is more of a possession wide out, while PREVIOUS years obj to me is a guy that can get open easier. Which TYPE of wide out does this team need more???
They are the same thing usually.
Its either a keyshawn possession guy due to big body, or a Beasley who is so quick that he creates separation…..I prefer the smaller quicker guys. There are several in this draft who can’t be covered consistently from the slot

Dak has a better connection with guys who get open vs guys who simply out muscle the ball in tight coverage. A good route runner can create space quickly even in tighter windows.

You need both.

Dallas got rolling last year when Gallup got his game going in the playoffs last year, and he was playing more of a possession-style game last year. But you still need separation.
Yep, lets secure the ball first.
. Hopkins fits, but they will be more tight window throws, but has a huge catch radius.
I think Hopkins would give Dak the confidence to make those throws.....a lot of the problems have come from a disconnect from both side: Receivers and DAK (particularly slants/ins, ive always thought Dak likes a target instead of hitting the receiver in stride on such patterns.....the GB post snap Safety alignment totally killed his confidence (whether it was his fault or not).

We need a speed threat who can stretch the field. A receiver who has to be accounted for and take some of the focus off CeeDee.

He has always preferred route runners who get separation. He struggled with Dez and Hopkins will be similar, have to throw to them when covered and expect them to go get the football

Based on what we think we know about the new offense

We need a receiver who can get open quickly - short / intermediate and can do damage with the ball in his hands after the catch
Yes somebody like Deebo Samuel up in San Francisco.

We need one late out of his breaks and late to the ball for accuracy and continuity.

Separation. Dak throwing in tight windows makes me cringe

Separation guys fit Dak’s skill set better.

Remember, Dak had a top 20 all time possession receiver in Dez Bryant… it didn’t work.

Since it seems Dak is uncomfortable throwing into tight windows, or throw guys open; Dallas needs a WR who can get separation.

We need speed. This was one of the slowest offenses in football last year. CeeDee Lamb is not slow but he is not a burner. Tony Pollard is fast but coming off an injury. And that's it.

Finding a speedy WR and a TE that can stretch the seam is a must. A few years ago Dallas had both (Amari Cooper, Blake Jarwin) but they let Cooper go without adequately replacing him. Jarwin was injured, and while he was not a game changer he did have the speed that kept Dalton Schultz on the bench for two years.

Dez was at the end of his career, was hurt, and was not playing at the level of peak Dez by the time Dak got here. If this wasn't true than why did it take Dez almost two years to find a team to take him after the Cowboys cut him? Are there 31 brain dead NFL general managers?

Separation, but I’d like to know if your characterisations are really true or not. There’s an advanced stat out there that measures amount of separation receivers get.

It really doesn’t matter when have a guy that can’t throw a guy open and underthrown when they are open. Dak still sucks and ain’t nothing going to change that. Small brains meant to be a back up and would be anywhere else outside of Dallas. This fanbase needs to go look at other forums; nobody thinks Dak is good, not even slightly. Lol

Too bad all the people in the fan forums are too busy to become NFL general managers because they clearly have it all figured out.

If the Cowboys made Dak available for trade they could ask for multiple first round picks and they would get it. No he is not a Mahomes or a Burrow. But he is a franchise QB and one that provides stability. Well over half the teams in the league right now would love to have Dak. And all the fans here that don't appreciate him should be forced to watch an endless loop of Cowboys quarterback highlights from 2000-2005. If you don't like Dak you would have really loved Anthony Wright, Quincy Carter, Clint Stoerner, Ryan Leaf, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson, and Drew Bledsoe.
