Do we need Greg Ellis

As Wade bring in more of his guys - who will carry out his mission on defense/locker room. Ellis free speech will and has grown tiresome.

I'd keep the guy, but that's just me. You can never have enough pass rushers. If he gets cut trust me I won't lose any sleep, but I'd keep him.

Right now they only have Ware, Spencer, and Ellis that can rush well from the outside.(Yes Spencer still has to prove it but he's shown some ability) So they better find some replacements if they are going to cut Ellis. I'll be glad when they finally don't need him.

Ellis is done...I'd rather cut him now than next year when he's really done...

He needs to go, so finding his replacement/backup for Spencer is a necessity.

I would have waived him before Roy and TO. 5 million in cap savings? He'd have been gone so fast his whining about it would be drowned out by the screeching tires.

:laugh2: That 5 million is a no brainer right???? Ellis benefits from Ware and playing on 3rd downs.

I doubt many like to listen to Ellis but its mild enough to blandly ignore and goes away before the season starts.

I think it foolish to get rid of the #2 or 3 pass rusher OLB on the team. I think you have to replace him first. And pray tell me where you're going to get near 10 sacks a year for the money he gets. We could get real lucky and find a gem in the draft or UDFAs but I wouldn't count on it.

The Pac is moving to the 3-4 and need a OLB who can rush. Maybe we can package #51, Greg and some later pick(s) to trade up to #41?

Not at all. His act got old a long time ago. Let's use the roster spot on someone who doesn't whine about something new every 15 minutes and who isn't on the downside of his career.

I agree. The guy is under contract and he can contribute. If he doesn't like his situation he can retire.

Is it to late to trade him for some picks or another vet cb or something?

Given that the team is making what seems to be a concerted effort to get rid of malcontents...and bring some new energy, they should boot Ellis through the nearest set of goal posts.

Denver is going to a 3-4 too. Trade him to Denver for Hillis and one of their coverage LBs/pick.

I'd take a 7th rounder.

If Quincy wasn't released we wouldn't have Romo, an undrafted free agent. We could replace him with one of those and he might turn out to be a gem.
