Do we really need another defensive end?

Upgrading the defensive end spot is a necessity in the Marinelli system.
IMO,so is the defensive tackle position. Upgrading is inherent in any position

I misread your first line but you said DE is not high on the list of priorities due to the signing of Mayowa who only has 2 career sacks in 3 seasons and the re-signing of Crawford who only has 8 sacks in his 3 year career. You're 100% wrong if you think signing those 2 players has reduced our need for a DE or practically every mock draft wouldn't have the Cowboys taking a DE at #4 overall. If you're one of those who thinks Hardy is coming back you're going to be wrong and without him what little pass rush we had last season will be even less if we don't replace him with a formidable pass rusher.

Part of the success DLaw had last season was due to opponents having to contain Hardy. No way are the Cowboys going to improve their pass rush without a big time pass rusher that opponents fear and have to account for. They can't go into the 2016 season set with the DE's they currently have and hope for the best or they'll be on the road to picking in the top 10 next season. Unless we get lucky in the draft at corner with a solid player who can cover and make plays we're going to continue having issues in the secondary so the only way to mask that never ending problem is a strong pass rush.

No one knows how Bosa will turn out or Shaq Lawson. I agree the Cowboys need a big, nasty DT who can collapse the pocket that would help the pass rush but you still need a formidable pass rusher that can get to the QB and you have to look high in the draft to have a good chance at landing one. The top rated DT by most is A'Shawn Robinson and many have him going outside the top 10. We can try our luck later in the draft on a DT but we have to come away with a potentially great pass rusher.

No, that's not what I said at all! It's embarrassingly B virus (for you) that you didn't read my post at all. The only names I mentioned in my post were Bosa and (later on) Lawson. Not one mention was made of Mayowa, Lawrence, or Tyrone Crawford. I spoke of the positions, but didn't address names. You're thinking of another poster - not once have I linked Crawford to the DE position.

I thought the discussion was about our need for defensive ends...silly me...my bad for actually reading the posts. I did say that I think Dallas has a solid ROTATION at DE. Notice I said "no stars, but enough bodies to keep them fresh". And I stand by my assertion that what makes Marinelli's defense work is the 3-tech. Strong play from the interior makes the DE's jobs much easier.

Look, for what it's worth, I agree that you can never have too many pass rushers. But drafting Bosa at 4 is far from proof that Dallas needs to upgrade the pass rush. In fact, I find it laughable that the "experts" would think Dallas would improve the pass rush by drafting a playing who's not considered a pass rusher. Lawson s a different story, but he's not going at #4.

You're right you didn't say that and you didn't bring up Mayowa or Crawford I got you confused with the OP. Verdict brought them up and when you responded I confused you with him because you changed your avatar since the last time I saw you.

You must get immediate pressure esp in a shooting one gap. We must have rush from the entire line and quickly. So we need to continuously upgrade and/or maintain the DL.

Right now you have a pretty good 3 in Crawford and a lot of unknowns altho most consider Lawrence as someone on the rise. So we need to consider another 3 notwithstanding the other roster players there and we have to have at least one DE preferably an edge rusher and/or WDE.

Where they fit those players into the draft I don't know as you have needs at DB and QB to fill as well that rank in that top tier of needs.

He had 70 pressures according to PFF which ranked second. STATS has him with a similar number of hurries+hits. That is about 6 times a game that he was affecting the QB. He faced a lot more double and triple teams after Bennett and Spence left and still produced at a high level. He is a TFL and FF machine too.

So you want to take Bosa (low sack numbers) and put him at LE then switch Dlaw over to the right side and hope he doesn't go half the season before he starts producing. .......

Sorry but much prefer to get a pass rushing RE (which is what we need) and there isn't one worthy of number 4.

On top of that didn't Bosa run into some weed issues? Him and Gregory wouldn't be good together if so

Uh, no...that's the same avatar I've used since I first joined the sight...never changed it.

But I accept your apology.

I thought you had a different avatar before. It's not the first time I've confused posters when you debate as many topics with as many posters as I do it's bound to happen.
