thats what practice is for. Plenty if time to shake off any rust in a 17 game season.
Big difference in game time speed and practice but also not sure that 2 series would do it so I can see playing them and also can see not playing them.

The 4 most valuable pieces on offense are Dak, pollard and the top 2 receivers . I can see why they would hold them out

Sure I can. They've gone 0-2 in week 1.

No, I don't think it matters a whole lot but my gut says they should player the starters for a quarter in one of these games.
Fair enough. I would generally prefer the same thing to be honest. But at least we have avoided some major injuries in pre season his hands were also kind of tied with Dak two years in a row. With him coming off injury one year and the strained muscle the next.

I've been shifting toward not wanting any starters to play over the last few years. There's too many things that can happen.

I absolutely wouldn't play them...especially Dak....against Seattle. We still have no idea who will play in Martin's place at RG (Martin certainly won't play due to him just returning). I always felt (right or wrong) that Seattle also plays a little dirty. Won't risk it against them in PS.

I can certainly understand why people think they need to play. We haven't won one opener under MM. I'm not sure if that's due to being rusty, unprepared, etc....

It's funny, in 2020, in retrospect, it seems like the Rams were the ones who weren't prepared. They managed 20 points against what we now know was one of the greatest tire fires of a defense in history. Yeah, they beat Dallas 20-17, but they were a much better team than the Cowboys the rest of the way.

In 2021, the offense was spectacular, the defense hadn't found themselves yet, and we lost by 2 to the defending SB champs in their house. Last year, the offense you-know-what the bed and Dak went down, but the defense showed out well.

Which just goes to show, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if they will let the starters play a few series. Id love to see all of them outside of Pollard and Dak and maybe CeeDee. I might even like to see them although i know they hace said no dak
I am a little curious....why do you think mahommes gets reps but Dak doesn't.

Typically Id agree, but since the first game is a division game, I’d play the starters two series in one of these next two games, probably this one.

I realize the injury risk, but we have seen some bad football in the first few weeks once teams stopped playing starters pretty much entirely in the preseason….league wide.
What one or two series? Whats that gonna do? We will destroy the giants. Its more reason not to play them? You think they forgot how to play football?

With this new offense, there's no reason the starters can't play one series together.
if we do go starters, i think it had better be this game ... with one no more than two series- and then out .

.the last game needs to be reserved for depth bottom guys, fringe bubble players and future practice squad would be's

McCarthy has already said no starters will play. We are gonna see the same groups that played against Jax.

yet we see Chiefs Pat Mahomes playing in the very first preseason game just last Sunday night vs Saints, and mind you he has done so the past couple of years.

Just may depend upon how the particular HC coaches and lead players feel

Even if some of the starters still show a little rust in week one, big deal. It’s not like the old days of only 12 games. 17 games? It’s a very long season, man, and one shouldn’t get all bent out of shape over the first one. Being healthy is much more important.

Forgot about the Rams game. We were a bad OPI call from possibly winning that game.

True about the Bucs game too.

We looked bad on offense against the Bucs last year. Defense was outstanding.

Yeah....who knows.

Honestly don’t care about Mahomes he’s as important as this mornings flush to me

McCarhy said he’s holding Dak out not me. And I mentioned 3 players why is your focus Dak.

I’d like Dak to get a few series

Andy Reid is one of a few HCs who still play some starters in ps. Sean Payton, Belechick….mostly old school guys. But the number of HCs who like that is very small these days.

Most coaches (most organizations) today don’t want to risk a huge portion of their cap space to an injury in a meaningless game that could derail your season.

Remember- 30-40 years ago, NFL players needed ps games and TC to get in shape because they worked other jobs in the off-season to offset their pay. Players in the 70s and 80s needed those games. Today with players training year round, off-season mini-camps and practices…players today don’t need what they used to need to get ready to play.

Interesting irony that you mentioned some of the better, SB winning HC's,.. while we also have a SB winning HC that is completely the opposite philosophy
of the aforementioned HC's
