McCarthy has played minimal starters in the preseason the last few years and the cowboys have been 12-5.

I personally prefer the starters play in the preseason a little bit, but you can’t argue with the results.

It has been so long that Cowboys fan have forgotten that the objective is playoff success and a SB and have started barking on regular season record as a barometer of a “great season”

Na we all want that but some of have also found ways to enjoy the ride and not be miserable. 12-5 seasons are nothing to scoff at it. It’s hard to win in this league

yet we see Chiefs Pat Mahomes playing in the very first preseason game just last Sunday night vs Saints, and mind you he has done so the past couple of years.

Just may depend upon how the particular HC coaches and lead players feel

I wonder if they will let the starters play a few series. Id love to see all of them outside of Pollard and Dak and maybe CeeDee. I might even like to see them although i know they hace said no dak

probably not, if dak isnt playing why play the others?
They see the giant game as a practice game lol, so no need to warm up players in PS.
Cowboys are so good they only need to show up and play! And they will win !

Game 3 used to be the starter game. Not sure why it hasn't stayed that way even with one less game. Game 4 was a trash game in preseason, and only a big play or two saved someone on the roster.

More will play in the 2nd game, and none in the game 3.
Giants did not play jones in game 1 so I am curious if he plays game 2.

Everyone has a different opinion on this, and it does put players at risk, but it also helps them get in the live action groove.

there was some sarcasm lol, but the offense can only get some live action practice that will help if dak plays too.
However, if giants dont play jones and most off starters, then the first game they will both have had no PS practice for main starters.
So they will be even on that.

But really that is just showing up and playing and expecting to win maybe for both teams.
I think this first game is very important for both teams, they both need to win it.
Whoever loses is at an immediate disadvantage in div race.

Right now it seems like neither team is concerned about the first game lol.

I agree Dak should play 2 series but i think this organization has been gun shy since 16 when Romo went down. Jerry gives the fanbase alot of ammunition although our fanbase is one of the worst

Ask @CouchCoach, before the preseason started he proclaimed that no team will play their starters and none will play their starting QB and that is why Dak won't play in the preseason. lol.

Well, look around the league and you see teams playing all their starters for a few series including their starting QB's.

I think playing starters in preseason is foolish. It’s risky and it is not real game preparation.

Its hard to guage with the chiefs they currently own

• best QB
• best coach
• top 5 defense
• best TE

I think all starters could not play a second in preseason and still compete for SB. Im not opposed to playing starters in preseason. I think the Romo injury has made them gunshy

I’m trying to remember that game I think Tampa front 7 gave cowboys all they could handle I’ll have to see how Dak did that was the fractured hand game ?
