Unless you got the conversation recorded, everything you just said is hearsay................................Peterson said he called Jerry and every media outlet reported that Peterson called Jerry.............unless the Vikes got evidence to the contrary, case closed.

Well plaid, mein Beast friend.

all of you who half said Ap is a done deal here if Murray go then think of this:
That phone call between AP and Jerra. Surely, someone will rule that was tampering. And no, there is no statue of limitations with liberties on tampering.

According to Ben Goessling of ESPN, the Vikings have told the league that they would not be filing any sort of tampering charges against Jones for the incident. As neither Jones nor Peterson initiated the conversation between the two of them, there really wasn't any reason to believe that there was any ill intent on the part of either party.

So, that should pretty much be the end of that story. No harm, no foul on behalf of either party in the incident

If we don't have to break the bank, absolutely I'd take one of the best RBs in the league. Murray is nothing special. AP is.

I am troubled by the lack of loyalty to Murray who half done his best to carry our team thus far.
Though we all half to move on from time time to time, I do not get the premise dat Murray should move on because he want more monies. Well, duh! Yes, he half carried our offensive, half no one noticed? We are OK with vast amounts of monies for Romo and Dez (what he will ax) but as soon as Murray does well and he deserve moneis we close the door to the Bedford Falls Bank.

(cue in the "Battle Hymn of the Republican")

In a sane and fair world, mein friends, we would look to pay Murray first and half Dez stand in line behind him. Just compare the contibutions to the team, huh?
Though I walk in the valley of fairness, I see little toward Murray and I see a lot toward Romo and Dez. When Murray was barrelling through the lines of rough defensive mans we cheered.
Now, on the unfrozen tundra of Jerra World, we see a man among mans usually running for 100 yards or more. And still we turn him away from the bank because there is no room at the inn.
Let us praise Murray, not assume he be gone. Let us compensate him and yes, Dez, too. Because, together, they can work it out.
This I belief.
(cue out "Battle Hymn of the Republican.")
Amen.

I am confused and now I am doubally confused.
Please stop and be friendly and elaborate.

Quoted from the article:

Well, as it turns out, Peterson was talking to a friend of his that was in Jones' suite at Cowboys Stadium, who in turn handed the phone to Jones. It wasn't Peterson's intention to talk to Jones at all.

No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No.
No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No.
We are not the team that signs old guys to big contracts anymore. plus he has baggage off the field now.

Try to sign Murray to a sensible contract. If he won't sign to a team friendly deal, let him walk, find a guy who is serviceable and draft the next guy. But whatever they do Dallas better lock up the OL to contracts. If the OL is in place, finding a RB is so much easier.

I see. So it was surrendipideedoo that brought Jerra and Adrian "Mr. Discipline" Peterans together.
Well, I would think that this would be a non-case, then. Thx Stash for the clarificationate.

I'd be surprised if EITHER Murray or Adrian Peterson is on the roster next year. I think Dallas will just roll the dice by drafting another RB and see who emerges among that draftee, Randle, and Dunbar... or RB by committee of same.

I think the Cowboys want to make a deep investment in the pass rush and CB next year. With a nod to finding suitable depth for Romo.

Murray will sign for fair market value.

If for no other reason.... CZ to delete all AP threads.

Peterson + long term + cheaper = makes no sense

I'm saying if we sign Peterson to a 2 year deal for cheaper instead of overpaying Murray for 5+ years. Murray is in the prime of his career, looking for his first big contract... Peterson has already made tons of money and he's said he wants to be a Cowboys so he might take a hometown discount. Plus he could be cheaper because of all the **** thats happened with him this season and his age.

You've explained it very well here. Some people just don't want to see it.

I can't begrudge them for their feelings regarding this particular player and his issue, but I take issue when they refuse to accept the logic of the situations presented to them.

Bias overrides logic.

Adrian Peterson compared playing football to modern day slavery. I can't logically expect someone who makes that kind of comparison to accept a major reduction in pay to play for another team. I just don't see him giving a huge hometown discount. Yes, he will end up getting paid less than his last contract, but he still isn't going to come cheap for whomever signs him.

Given the position he's in, beggars can't be choosers.

He's been effectively kicked out of the league and will have essentially missed an entire season.

And then - in my opinion - he'll be released by Minnesota.

And judging from the dates indicated in his suspension documents, he won't be able to apply for reinstatement until well after the free agency period has begun.

He'll also be approaching 30yrs old, a bad age for a potential free agent, especially a running back.

Adding all those factors together, I can't see where Peterson can afford to act greedy. And if he does, that's fine, someone else can overpay for him.

I just don't see anyone backing up the money truck given those circumstances. Add in a preference to return to Texas and I feel the Cowboys have at least a measure of competitive advantage.

With all those facts, it seems illogical for Dallas to wait on Adrian Peterson's pending reinstatement to make a move on who will be their running back in 2015.

I'm certainly not advocating that as 'Plan A'.

But, like Bryant, I'm not interested in a long-term cap-strapping contract for Murray either.

If the numbers to keep Murray make sense, I'm all for keeping him around.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

(But don't GO broke either!)
