If there was ever a "Friends of Bill" type of guy, it is Maurice Carthon. I'm sorry but I would laugh my rear off if they hired Maurice as head coach...talk about a figurehead. Parcells would supercede Jerry as the biggest puppet master ever if that were to be the case. I still laugh about Parcells hired him as the offensive coordinator and then rushed to hire Sean Payton. Parcells didn't have the balls to actually name Payton as the OC so he kept Carthon as the OC and made Payton the "QB coach" I remember when people asked why Carthon deserved to be an OC and people would say he had great organization skills. LOL...I could see it back then. Payton hands Carthon the playbook and he puts it in a Trapper Keeper. It wasn't until the following season that they adjusted the titles to reflect reality by naming Carthon "assistant head coach" aka Bill's personal assistant. I appreciate the loyalty that Bill has showed this man but cmon, he is so unqualified to be a head coach. Would any serious GM or owner aside from Parcells consider him to be head coaching material? I think we know the answer to that.

And let's be honest, even Sparano as head coach reeks of the Jerry/Campo master and puppet relationship. LOL That's translation for "Bill wants to coach but is too tired to actually stand on the sidelines any longer" LOL

No, Parcells isn't going to interview him based on race. He is going to interview him because he is his friend and has always tried to look after him like a son. You gotta respect that in one sense but it's also nepotism at it's finest. And no, I don't think your post or inquiry was racist.

The Rooney rule

Actually you bring up a good point. Parcells would probably interview him to satsfy the Rooney rule. It's a brilliant move by Parcells because many won't think Parcells interviewed him to satisfy the Rooney rule because he knows Carthon personally and hired him as his OC in his first year with the Cowboys.

Parcells isn't stupid. He wasn't stupid enough to truly hire Carthon as his OC which is why he desperately sought Sean Payton. Likewise, I think he will hire Sparano. Nonetheless, you can't ignore Parcell's penchant for nepotism. He could hire Carthon as head coach/figurehead and then hire a real OC/coach under him. If that were to occur, I would laugh my rear off because that is so typical of Parcells: hire your friends not the most qualified people

I agree with essentially what you are saying but don't be suprised to find Maurice Carthon as the new "offensive coordinator" LOL...and then don't be suprised if they hire the real OC a month later. This is not just the Rooney rule. Parcells has been looking after his boy Maurice for a while now. I wouldn't be suprised if he is hired as Assistant Head Coach.

Parcells did the same thing with Bellichek. He hired Bellichek as his "secondary coach" after he already hired as Al Groh as defensive coordinator for the Jets. Even the media didn't play along and would credit Bellichek when discussing the defense with the Jets instead of Groh. He really wanted Bellichek but hired Groh first just in case he couldn't hire Bill Bellichek

The rule in it's self is insulting. The Fins wouldn't be the first team to "Rumor a hiring" then satisfy the rule.

I think Ozzie Newsome is breaking down the GM barrier as well. He is going to have a tree soon as well. Also former player Sean Jones is a scout and as you see more guys do things like that you will see them work themselves up the chain like everyone else does. nothing happens over night but it is happening because in the NFL it is all about money and winning
