Maybe he just doesn’t have it in him?
I hate to quote the red headed genius but, you don't get to The Masters and layup.Punting on 4th and 5 at SF's 40 was a fireable offense. If we went for that and converted might have actually had a good chance to win.
Payton’s offense ranked consistently higher than McCarthy and yet they have the same records almost….wouldn’t that say payton under achieved?Fangio is certainty better than anyone else they could get to replace Quinn, who I feel is gone.
And I think that Payton is a better offensive mind than McCartgy is. He’s shown he can win both by passing and running the ball. McCarthy has not.
And Payton’s offenses ranked consistently higher than McCarthy’s as well.
Agreed. But even with 3 minutes left, they had a chance to tie the game, or go for 2 and win. Every other team I see in similar situations always tries to get an easy 1st down to start the drive... Dallas seems to have no such plays. Then there were the idiot special teams taking their sweet time getting the punt off...the last 3 minutes were a disaster and that's on coaching...we can not expect our players to be consistent when our coaches are so bad at consistency and fundamentals of their jobs...Dan Quinn and the defence did their job...they were outstanding for the most part.Yes but to me it never should have came down to that. If Dak gives even slightly above average QB play, then the game could have been out of reach from the Niners by the 4th quarter.
Actually it says the opposite. It shows just how important a good defensive coordinator is to both.Payton’s offense ranked consistently higher than McCarthy and yet they have the same records almost….wouldn’t that say payton under achieved?
1) we don’t even know if the fangio /payton thing is real…it’s been rumored but that was weeks ago with no further mention of staff and if he goes to Denver it’s unlikely fangio goes back to Denver with Payton 2) you say that a good d coordinator is important for both which is true - but then you say both struggled to find good d coordinators…..Actually it says the opposite. It shows just how important a good defensive coordinator is to both.
Take a look at the ones Payton had and how bad that dude if the ball often was.
Both struggled to consistently find good defensive counterparts and that’s why neither one won more than one championship.
And word that Payton can bring Fangio with him tips the scales in his favor, especially vs the guy that gave us Mike Nolan.
Screwed?? MM has it made! Like Garrett, he knows he wouldn't have a job anywhere else. The more useless you are on the sidelines, the more appealing you are to Jerry. Quinn turned trash into diamonds. He's the real coach.I think McCarthy now knows he is screwed. This job had appeal because they had some decent talent and a Top-12 QB, which is much better than starting from scratch with a rebuilding team. But after 3 years, he has found out that Dak is limited and he won't be able to do anything in the playoffs with him
With Dak getting exposed on a national level, even Sean Payton wouldn't want to come here. It's hard to "fix" a 30-year old QB, it doesn't matter what kind of genius the coach may be.
LOL, a Horsemen reply BUT you are correct though. For what?
He can't play QB.
Yes. And I also say that Payton has a better one in Fangio. While McCarthy gave us Mike Nolan.1) we don’t even know if the fangio /payton thing is real…it’s been rumored but that was weeks ago with no further mention of staff and if he goes to Denver it’s unlikely fangio goes back to Denver with Payton 2) you say that a good d coordinator is important for both which is true - but then you say both struggled to find good d coordinators…..
Because Payton has shown his offense can have great success relying on either the pass OR the run. McCarthy has NOT shown such versatility, creativity, or flexibility. So they have the same record almost, they both struggle to hire adequate staff, they’ve won the same amount of championships and post season games (though 4 of those for mm were on the road) and that upgrade is worth at least 1 first round pick? If Payton is the superior football mind why did he also struggle to fill staff?
Best of luck with that. If it was easy, teams wouldn’t be lining up for Payton would they?I give Payton an edge simply because I feel he’d hold players more accountable but this isn’t some great gigantic gap- and he’s close to 60 years old….no longer this young parcells disciple. If you get rid of mm (they arent) go find the new Sean Payton offensive mind
But you don’t know payton is getting fangio….you’re making that up as a final conclusion and again if it’s denver he’s not bringing fangio there- and you’ve already mentioned how if it’s not fangio payton has also had trouble building a staff.Yes. And I also say that Payton has a better one in Fangio. While McCarthy gave us Mike Nolan.

MM is in a no-win situation when it comes to Dakota "WENTZ 2.0" Prescot. He's stuck with this loser of a QB and is probably going to be fired after his contract is up. JJ is a tight senile old man who thinks he knows everything about running a great organization and he doesn't know squat about it. Personally, I think JJ caved to pressure to get Prescot signed and now that the second year of this contract has come and gone, he realizes that QB he signed is fundamentally broken and to make matters worse has an outrageous contract to lead his organization and now he's stuck with him.Hire Payton ?
Hire Quinn ?
Has MM gotten us to his ceiling ?
This, Kellon and Dak are not on the same page, we need an OC that can game plan for Dak's strengths and his weaknesses.Need to replace Moore
Unfortunately it is easier to get rid of the coach than the players, especially one making what Dak is and Jed and Jethro are not going to admit a bad decision.Mike did a great job and the team was ready. Well except for one guy who as usual choked in the big game. Time to move on from Dak, not Mike.
