Do you guys believe there is trade bias against Cowboys?

Ever since Jerry stole Robert Quinn for a 6th, teams have been running scared.

Ever since the Walker trade teams are afraid to trade with us. :muttley:No just kidding.

I don’t think there is a bias. Just trades don’t work out as we always hear later on…the price was to much to get a player. Or not enough to trade a player away. And Better off to have for depth or the future or whatever.

The major trade killers are compensatory picks. A team wanting a player has to outbid the likely comp pick *supplied by the league* to make a trade happen.

The Walker trade is obviously legendary. But since then how many trades have the Cowboys gotten fleeced? Most recently the Cooper trade.

There is a bias about trading.

There are teams all over the league that make major trades, and their teams fail. What people do is focus on the 1 team every once in awhile who make a major trade, and happen to win that year.

The reasoning is see this one team did it this one year, it is worth the gamble. The 9 other teams who put themselves in cap problems, gave away draft capitol, and made bad trades do not matter, focus on the 1 success.

Unless you have a rare abundance at a position which happens to be the need of a team you want a guy from you always overpay. They are not going to give you their top guy at a position for your benchwarmer.

Sometimes I think that because the Cowboys are headliners, people don’t like trading with us because it’s always gonna get national attention and spun to sound like that team got fleeced. If I were an owner, I’d want my trades to be under the radar, and if I had to trade with the Boys, I’d make sure it looked like I fleeced them due to the national attention

That said, I’m always scratching my head at how the Jones’ are supposedly amazing business men, but don’t seem to understand player value outside of the draft board and penny stock Free Agents. They really seem to struggle with trades and higher profile FAs
This is something interesting...because how was nobody willing to trade more than a 5th for Amari Cooper? Its almost like no one wants to help us which is crazy because they will help superior ran teams like the Rams.

I think teams would LOVE to trade with the Cowboys seeing that Beavis and Butthead are usually taken to the back of the woodshed repeatedly. Just that our FO has gotten cheaper as their franchise value has risen. And so cheap labor like draft picks, discarded FA, injured FA, and our own are the most likely choices made. Hey, the 30 year plan is on schedule, I think.

Come to think of it, who would have thought you would pay off your 30 year mortgage and the Cowboys still not make it back to even a NFCCG. ? How bizarre.
I think that's it though. It doesn't seem like the same deals are available to us.

Lol, sorry but what a ridiculous post.

No. I just think teams use us as Leverage because all things equal they know people would rather go to us than another place.

Let's say the Panthers have DJ Moore on the Block...and Draws the interest of the Packers, Giants, Titans or just some other team.

The Agent could lie and put it out that there... "The Cowboys have offered say...a 2nd round picks and a 4th in next years draft"...even if it's a lie..those other teams would know instantly that they would need to get more. It's leverage from the player, and also leverage from the team trading.

I remeber they had something in the works for Jamal Adams till Jerry opened his mouth and then that made the Jets not want to do deals with Dallass.

Any other team should be eager to swindle this “GM”. You’re absolutely right, they value the draft and their own free agents. That’s pretty much it. They can’t possibly improve on a pool of roughly 2100 players around the league. Their philosophy is mindblowingly ridiculous! The only team far and away utilizing this “home-grown” strategy!

Don't know about that.
Jerry has gotten the short end of the stick on some major trades for Wideouts...
I would think other teams would like getting good deals...

No, Dallas just low-balls everybody.

They remind me of a sales manager that is so obsessed with margin that they have no sales.

The Jones’ seem to always want a steal, and as a result, usually get nothing.

Might not seem like the worse philosophy, but 27 years of mediocrity says they just don’t know when to pull the trigger.

The cowboys said a couple teams offered better than a 5th but they wanted the cowboys to eat some of Cooper’s salary. The browns offered a 5th but agreed to take all the salary for Amari. That’s why they went with the Browns. They cared more about the cap space than getting maximum draft compensation back

I thought that they got outstanding value on Basham, Kearse, Hooker, Fowler, Barr, Maher, Turpin and Peters. They built an outstanding roster and might get the last laugh. There is a reason that they got 12 wins last year and have an excellent chance at doing that again or more.
