Do you guys believe there is trade bias against Cowboys?

This is something interesting...because how was nobody willing to trade more than a 5th for Amari Cooper? Its almost like no one wants to help us which is crazy because they will help superior ran teams like the Rams.

This, also heard this morning on Maddog station that the rams were in play for C. McCaffery along with the niners and one other team.

The cowboys said a couple teams offered better than a 5th but they wanted the cowboys to eat some of Cooper’s salary. The browns offered a 5th but agreed to take all the salary for Amari. That’s why they went with the Browns. They cared more about the cap space than getting maximum draft compensation back
You are correct but how much were those teams offering? I’m not going to sit here and say we could’ve got a haul like the Chiefs and o Packers did but if someone offered a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him the Cowboys would’ve declined? I don’t think so.

I suspect they were lying or maybe a team offered an earlier pick in the 5th round. Just pure speculation on my part though.

I remeber they had something in the works for Jamal Adams till Jerry opened his mouth and then that made the Jets not want to do deals with Dallass.
I wonder if the Seahawks are still glad they made that trade?

Sometimes I think that because the Cowboys are headliners, people don’t like trading with us because it’s always gonna get national attention and spun to sound like that team got fleeced. If I were an owner, I’d want my trades to be under the radar, and if I had to trade with the Boys, I’d make sure it looked like I fleeced them due to the national attention

That said, I’m always scratching my head at how the Jones’ are supposedly amazing business men, but don’t seem to understand player value outside of the draft board and penny stock Free Agents. They really seem to struggle with trades and higher profile FAs
In season trades never seem to work out for the Cowboys. They don't go after the right players.
Jerry is always wanting to make that offensive splash. I would like to Dallas make a trade for Roquan Smith or Daron Payne. I think Jerry is too cheap to give up draft picks for either one of those guys.

Dallas places more value on draft picks than other teams. I can't disagree with this one because they are better at drafting than other teams.

Dallas "likes its guys", frequently making it so that they can't trade their existing players until they have completely worn out their welcome. At which point, they have no trade value.

Dallas tends to overpay its vets, making them difficult to trade.

Overall, it shouldn't be surprising that Dallas is not active in the trade market.

Lets be fair, the Rams are willing to trade picks, we're not.

The Rams are in desperation mode, probably the last year before 'Fire Sale', indeed this may even start in a weeks time (if 49ers beat them and the Chiefs).

Its not so much they are 'given' players in trades, it's killing their draft (and infusion of young players) to the point that in 5 of this years 6 games they can only average 10pts per.

As for Coop, it was the market situation....EVERY TEAM could see that with a week before the CAP had to be balanced the only way we were realistically going to get under was to release Amari. Teams factored in that our CAP until 2024 meant we were unlikely to restructure, that other teams were shopping (better WR's) and they could possibly pick up Coop (for nothing).

Roquan Smith read Damone Clark
Daron Payne read Osa and Neville

Not saying I disagree, but we know that we'll only make this move if there's a cheap upgrade. However, this is the perfect game to evaluate what we have vrs a run dominant team, where the real weaknesses are. Im sure other play-off teams will be looking at the tape of the game....how do the Cowboys reset after a poor run-defense game. I agree/hope the pressure's on, with a week before the deadline....better now than a week after.

The Cowboys are not going to pay Smith and Payne. To be honest I don’t think they are worth the money they want. Washington would never trade Payne to us.

Yep, as I said we've got young/cheap alternatives. We arent going to trade, unless there's a weakness. The Eagles exposed an inability to stop a run heavy drive at a crucial time in the game and this WILL be identified as a weakness (that will have to be rectified) especially if that is the defining element that stops us from a long play-off run.

Its risk/reward.....if we are able to stop that drive (vrs Eagles) we could well have won the hardest game we'll face before the SB.....if that's not the greatest reward then we may as well pack up.

I expect the run Defense to be on notice that they are potentially the weak link and that if they dont raise their game then trades will be made and starting jobs lost.

I admit i'm adverse to trading for the sake of it, but when we're this close (behind our QB2) and you have a potential weakness (lets see what the Lions run game does to us) then you really have to do something.

The Cowboys want pass rushers on their defensive line. They would never trade for a fat boy that stops the run. I agree with that philosophy. You have to stop the pass to win in today’s NFL.

I believe the other Owners and GM's do not like Jerry or Stephan ....... so its not a bias against the Cowboys ....... just those two idiots.

No there is no trade bias toward Dallas. To the contrary, our GMs reputation on trades probably makes us a very popular potential trade partner.

The reason we don’t see many trades in Big D though is mainly because of the way our front office views the salary cap. More aggressive teams like the rams, niners, chiefs see the cap as a speed bump. The Cowboys front office sees a wall with the cap.

The NFL cap is the hardest of the ones used in pro sports. For that reason alone, trades are more difficult in the NFL compared to other sports.

But as Hurts showed (and we're likely to see against the 9ers) we're likely to face teams that dont have to even revert to a passing game. We need to show we can stop the run and until we do teams will exploit it, just as we have to scheme around teams playing an RPO around Micah.

Unfortunately, I wonder if our Jerry loves the spectacle of the pass rush, however, as we know you to stop the run to allow/earn the right to pass rush on long 3rd downs.

I hear you. San Francisco is going to be a handful Hurts did nothing by the way the Cowboys lost that game because our offense had one first down through a quarter and a half. I am more afraid of Buffalo/KC then I would be of San Francisco/Philadelphia. More teams pass then run nowadays.

Since the Walker trade Jerry has gotten fleeced on a number of deals so I don't think there is a bias against trading with Dallas. I think the Cowboys just do not like to make trades. First, with a "we like our guys" mentality, Jerry probably hates giving away his players. Second, any players worth trading for probably have deals worth more than Jerry is willing to spend. The one exception in all of this is Amari Cooper. So out of character for Jerry to make that deal knowing Cooper would be due a new contract the following year.

I think the Joey Galloway and Roy Williams trades changed Jerry's thought process.
