About whether or not Michael Irvin smokes crack?

I'm serious.
As a Cowboy fan, once you turn in your uniform and no longer contribute to my team I just don't care all that much what you do. I appreciate what you have done while you wore the star and hope for your sake that you can continue to set a good example but in the end everyone's human.

Smoke crack?
That's you and your family's problem.
I'm focused on the Giants right now.

I love what Irvin brought to the Cowboys and enjoyed watching him play but now he's an analyst who sides with the biggest baby in football (T.O.) everyday and I really don't care that much whether he smokes crack or not.

I hope for his sake that he's smarter than that but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

Neither am I going to get my feathers ruffled about who does and who does not get into the HOF. As a football fan, I know who deserves the honor so whether or not it is made official makes no difference to me. It's not going to change my opinion one way or the other.

What difference does someone's induction into the HOF make in my recollection of their performance on the football field?
None.

Do you get this upset when your favorite musician isn't voted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame?
Does it make their music sound less appealing?
What if your favorite musician uses Heroin?
Do you enjoy their music less?

What's it going to be then, eh?

Well stated.

I am as passionate about this team as anyone, but the players who play now are more important. That is not a comment on what Irvin did, but what he is doing right now is really not that important.

I care simply from the fact that I want to believe Michael Irvin is a changed man.

I don't think it is a reflection on the team at all, or at least it shouldn't be.

I care about Irvin as a person and hope these demons are behind him and he really is trying to help a friend who is still struggling.

well said qwick!!

i loved irvin on the field.... but i can't stand to hear him ramble off of it.

on a side note......lynyrd skynryd is going to the rock n roll hall of fame in 2006.
i don't care for the rock n roll hall of fame, but to not have skynryd in there would be like pete rose and the baseball hall of fame.

Yeah, I care about him. As a person, as a former Cowboy and as a Brother in Christ.

I loved him on the Field for the way he played the game. I was dissappointed in him when he stumbled. I was elated when he turned his life around and got Saved.

You don't invest that kind of passion in one person, rooting for, hoping, for and praying for, and then all of a sudden, once they stop wearing the star you just give up on them as a person.

To look at these guys as only uniforms is a very simplistic view of life and people in general.

yep... that's pretty much how I view it QD. Once you leave the Cowboys, then I'm not particularly interested in you.

Right now I care about Ware, Spears, Glover, Fergy, Bledsoe, JJ, McBriar, Ellis, James, etc.

I don't particulary care what Irvin is doing... or Emmitt, or Troy. I will always have great memories of them... but they are no longer on the team and lets' face it... the main reason we're interested in the NFL is because we want to watch the Cowboys win. Irvin, Tolbert, Norton, Gesek, Tuinei, Newton, Johnston, etc. aren't on the team... and so I don't really care what's going on with them.

Right now I care about Willie Pile, Scott Fujita, Billy Cundiff and Torrin Tucker much more that I do any of the old stars.

I've barely read anything about Irvin's arrest. Meh... doesn't concern me any more because he doesn't currently play for my favorite team.

I understand where you are coming from and I agree that this is a family matter. I don't really care to hear who is using and who is not. I don’t try and judge a person because we all fall short.

However I do care for Michael as a person and hope that he is not using. I don't want anyone doing crack or any illegal drug. I am a police chaplain. I have seen it all.

It is terrible going to a home at 1 AM and telling a parent that their teenager is dead because of an overdose or drug use. I just had to inform a mother that her 17 year old died in a car accident. There was only one car involved. The teen was high on weed, took a turn to sharp, flipped his jeep and cracked his head on the roll bar.

I know there are casual users who can control it but most cannot. It affects their family and society.

Also do not take any pills with alcohol. I have been called out several times lately because someone chased down some prescription medication with a beer. The most recent was a 33 year old mom who died in the shower after taking her medication with a Bud.

Sorry if I sound preachy but it was difficult to tell the seven year old that her mommy is dead. I want all my fellow Cowboy fans to have a wonderful and safe holiday season.

I dont care wether he was using the stuff or not. Just cause you do a drug does not make you a bad person. Every one has a vice or three. If he can handle it, more power to him. Personally I dont think hes using the stuff. I beleive him implicitly and have from the start of all this. The fact the pastor, and the 'friend' "T" has come forward and the cops and ESPN are done with it proves hes proved to the right pple he has not done anything wrong, except for the speeding and warrant that was also taken care of. The pple that are demanding the proof are the same pple that would not want an investigator going through their life. Whats it matter anyway. Hes not a role model for this generation. Hes not even playing anymore.

All I can say is carry on Michael, you dont have to prove anything to anyone. You and your God know what you do and if you can live with yourself doing whatever it is you do, I have no problem with that. It changes nothing in my life if he goes to jail or goes home. It changes nothing inyour life if he goes home or to jail either.

I thought it was a weed pipe?? If it was crack, then yes, as a person I am concerned for/about him. If it was a weed pipe (which i believe it was), then I am not worried about it.

Important point to note: It was a Marijuana pipe found in the car. There was marijuana residue found in the pipe and in a baggie.

Irvin has readily admitted to using both Marijuana and Cocaine, but has vehemently denied ever using crack.

While this may be irrelevant to your overall point, you should have the story straight.

I could not care less (and I never understood why the saying went " I could care less").

I never understood the infatuation some have for the personal lives of sports stars or any famous people (who's Brad Pitt dating now!?!?!).

I agree with that Hos.

I also disagree with the point of view that once a player has retired, fans need not care. Irvin was a great Cowboy, I still wear his Jersey (now considered a throwback..heh heh).

Not sure I know how to put it into the proper words, but following ONLY the active players on a team and not giving a damn about the history of it and former players (all that's gone into the team over the years), just seems pretty messed up to me.

Irvin is retired, he has a new job, but he is forever linked to the Cowboys and in the spotlight. Every person who watches ESPN and sees Irvin thinks Cowboys. He is a Cowboy for life and as long as he is in the spotlight he will bring the team to peoples minds.

Overall, this event won't reflect badly on the current team, but to have an opinion that this is equally relevant to us Cowboys fans as any random incident involving any random celebrity is just wrong IMO.
