Crack, Marijuana, whatever.
The principle of what I am saying is still the same.

Actually, if it is in fact weed... and some people here are this concerned... that's just sad.

Mark my words:
Michael Irvin smokes weed.
I guarantee it.
And so do probably half of your favorite sports figures, actors, musicians, etc.

Crack kills.
Weed? well,...
let's just say I'd be more concerned with how much caffeine Irvin drank today than how much weed he smoked.

I'm not a hateful person and don't wish ill will upon anyone.
But I also don't lose sleep over the personal business of people whom I don't know personally.

I could not care less (and I never understood why the saying went " I could care less").

I've always heard it was: "I couldn't care less." Which makes sense.

Apparently, a lot of people have that wrong (because I hear it all the time) and they end up saying: "I could care less." Which of course means that whatever "it" is... is apparently more important than some things to that person.

Couldn't have said it better myself (and that's saying something when you consider the brilliance of jem88.)

Yes I do care. I care about any good human being that is legitimately trying to get over a drug problem.

Do I feel sorry for him? Only slightly. To me, it's not like they have cancer or some other type of disease.

But, drug addiction is a tough road for anybody to handle and if they are truly trying to beat addiction, I'm heartbroken when they relapse.

Well yes, It should be "I couldn't care less", but I have mostly heard "I could care less. I've used it myself.

The only way "I could care less" makes real sense is with the other half of the statement. (rarely spoken, but usually inferred), which is "but it would be tough."

Taken that way, it's only slightly different from "I couldn't care less"...meaning that although it would be possible to care less, it would take alot of work.

Well, I care but my reasoning is purely from a selfish point of view.

I want to see Michael in the NFL HoF and I'm worried that this latest incident has hurt his chances because sportswriters can't seperate a player's on-field performance with his off-field affairs (as they should).

As far as I'm concerned, the NFL HoF is a sham because of it's absence of Cowboy greats that belong there. A case could be made for several but I couldn't think of anyone more worthy than "Bullet Bob" Hayes. No one player in the history of the NFL has ever had the kind of effect on a defensive coordinator's gameplan like the "fastest man alive" did back when he played.

I realize that I'm digressing but it's a sore subject with me and why I still care about the former players of the Dallas Cowboys - albeit my reasoning is purely from a selfish standpoint, as already stated. ;)

There is something twisted in this whole question. Its ridiculous to adopt a premise that says as long as it doesn't affect me personally, I don't care.

Uh, how do you figure Dorsett was a cocaine addict? First I've ever heard of it.

There's a crackhead somewhere on your block who WASN'T fortunate enough to win a Super Bowl, play in the NFL, or make millions of dollars for playing a game.

Why aren't you more concerned about him?

Oh, cause he's not famous.
I see.

I think this question was originally posed regarding Michael Irvin, not the guy down the street. However, if it had been posed regarding the guy down the street, why do you assume that the response would be different?

I didn't read this whole thread first of all, but I have very strong feelings on this subject.

I don't know Michael Irvin, and I don't know if he's telling the truth. I want to believe he's clean. I will lose all respect for Michael if this comes out a lie. Because he's a liar? Because he's on crack? No. Because he's using his religous beliefs to back him. I'm a Christian, myself. I hope he's telling the truth, and not using his beliefs to hide behind his problems.

I do care. Mainly for Michael Irvin. But also for the overall image of the Dallas Cowboys. Anything former players do has a direct effect on the Cowboy image. I'm surprised Stepnowski didn't get his name mentioned in this thread.
