and what players as of today if they retired will get in?

I say Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, Brett Farve, Junior Seau, Strahan from last year, Payton Manning has enough stats to make it...Ray Lewis does too, Brady only has 7 good seasons...he needs some more 3500 yard seasons to get in...they dont have to be spectacular due to his superbowl wins and last years season...just some good seasons..i would say 4 or 5 and he is in...could be in even without that...but for him to be a lock thats what he needs.

Derrick brooks....Orlando Pace, Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, Walter Jones, Tony Gonzalez, Champ Bailey,

Who I think will get there barring injury, Larry Fitzgerald, Tory Holt, DeMarcus Ware, Tony Romo, Ed Reed, LT, Eli, Julian Peppers, Adrian Peterson,

If Owens gets in, it definitely won't be a first ballot. Too much will be made of the perception of who everybody thinks he is. Which of course will make for an interesting debate regardless of which side of the fence you happen to agree with.

Yes, hell get in. And he'll be forced to give his own introductory speech, too.

Dude is 2nd all time in TD's behind Jerry Rice. He holds the single game record for most catches in a game. He is 60 catches shy of 1,000. He is in 6th place all time for receiving yards, and only 49 yards behind being in sole 5th place.

Yes he is a hall of famer.

TO no doubt deserves the bid for the HOF, but I think it's going to be a long time before he actually gets voted in. If voters voted the way they are supposed to and not with bias and hate, TO would be a first ballot.

I think his "Locker Room Problems" will weigh heavily on the voters minds, eventhough it's not supposed to.

He'll retire with 160(give or take) Receiving TDs.....that is crazy.

First Ballot talent.

TO won't get first ballot unless he gets a ring here. Personally, I think that's why he came to Dallas. To win a ring... anything less and it's just a matter of time before he melts down again.

Besides the BS perception that he's the reincarnation of Hitler, he also has the fact that this is a "passing era" (true) working against him. His numbers today don't mean the same thing they would have 10-15 years ago.

Nonetheless, if he can out-last Marvin Harrison (seems likely at this point) and Randy Moss (with Moss's weed habits, that is more than possible), there really aren't any threats to pass him for the second spot in all major receiving categories, where he projects to be when he retires. Larry Fitzgerald would have the best shot, and that would be 10+ years down the road from Owens's retirement...and the fact that Fitzgerald is a huge, slow receiver who relies on his jump ball abilities to win every battle doesn't bode well for him long-term.

I think the best thing Owens can do to improve his chances of being first ballot is play as long as he can, regardless of whether or not he remains an elite receiver. Not just because he'll extend his career cumulative numbers, but because he'll put distance between himself and what happened in 2005 with the Eagles. All of the BS media-invented stories in Dallas are basically forgotten about; nobody thinks about DeAngelo Hall claiming Owens spat on him in 2006...probably because Owens and the Cowboys barely dignify these "incidents" with a response. But the largely overblown trash in Philly is forever ingrained in people's minds.

So if Owens can play until 2012 or so, that puts 7 years between 2005 and the last time they saw him play. Add in 5 more years (assuming the rule remains) to wait for HOF candidacy, and we're talking about "something that happened 12 years ago." Some of the ignorant journalists will have either retired or died off by then...and the new generation (who will hopefully see the media sensationalism for the ridiculous BS it is) won't hesitate to vote him in. Those who remain will have either largely forgotten about the magnitude of it, or will rethink the supposed magnitude...after all, how meaningful was the incident, really? Donovan McNabb has shown to be nothing special. If the Eagles don't win the Super Bowl this year, they're not likely to do it with McNabb as the QB.

it isn't a question of whether he will be a hall of famer, because he will be. It is a question of what team he will represent when he goes into the hall. It will be either us or the Niners.
