I think it just makes sense to move the Stro's into the AL.

It makes no sense having 30 teams, 2 conferences and 6 divisions but having the divisions so split up.

There are 4 divisions with 5 teams, 1 with 6(in the NL) and one with 4(in the AL)

Just move the Stro's to the AL and call it a day. 6 divisions with 5 teams each. simple.

Yeah, I think that's what's going to end up happening. If Texas fans have to stay up to watch all those Angels/Mariners/As road games, why shouldn't the Astros fans?

So because you gets a raw deal the Astros should as well? They may move an NL team to the American league but I hope it is not the astros.

Well, if they move an NL other than the Stos it may well be from the NL West so they would fit into the AL West, and if that's the case, the Stros may move from the Central to the West to even out the divisions. Either way the Stros end up playing a West Coast schedule.

and that could be the case but I don't see the only 2 teams in Texas both being in the AL.

I like them in separate leagues.

However, it does seem silly that the AL West only has 4 only teams and the NL Central has 6. That is just dumb.

I really don't either - and I certainly don't want them to be. NY, Illinios, Ohio, FL - all 2 team states, have one team in each league. Of course Pennsylvania has both it's teams in the NL, but they don't have them in the same division.

Ohio has Cincy and St. Louis in the same division. I think it might help Florida if they had both their teams in the same division, too. Barely anyone goes to games out there, but maybe that would light a fire due to a rivalry.

And that's what I want for Texas. I've seen Texans-Cowboys games get heated and I think that with as passionate as we get about our sports, this could be one of the great all time rivalries.

St. Louis isn't in Ohio.

The only baseball series' that matter are the Subway Series in NY, the Crosstown Series in Chicago, and the Bay Area series in SF/Oakland, and even that one pales in comparison to the NL rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers.

There are a lot of things about baseball that are dumb. Like the designated hitter.

I assume when you say these are the only series that "matter" you are saying they are the only real in-state rivalries.

and yet Dallas is in the NFC and the Texans are in the AFC. The league made sure the Astros and Rangers will face off each year so I don't see what the big deal is of keeping the rangers in the AL and Astros in the NL.

I wasn't arguing anything - just letting roytex know that the claim that Ohio had Cincy and St. Louis in the same division was wrong since Ohio doesn't have St. Louis to begin with.

As for th big deal of keeping the Rangers in the AL (which I don't think has ever been a question) and the Astros in the NL, it was just rumored that MLB may want to get all divisions to 5 teams, and moving Houston was mentioned as one way to do that. Doesn't mean it would be a problem to do it some other way.

The Brewers were in the AL before the last realignment. They should move back and then either them or the Royals go into the AL West.

That or move the D'Backs into the AL West, since they're the last expansion team in the NL, and move the Astros into the NL West.

The Royals were in the NL West before the Brewers moved, so that would be going back to what we had before. Seems simple enough.

I kind of like your second option. It kind of sucks for the Astros and their fans since they would end up playing a more West Coast/Pacific Time Zone schedule, but Arizona is the team that doesn't have a lengthy history with one league so I'm on board with them being be the ones to move.

Pretty quick, easy win last night by the Rangers. Hoping tonight is a little bit more exciting. At the very least, my kids and I will be part of a world record, which they seem to be pretty excited about.

Neither franchise has a rich history, so it shouldn't make too much of a difference if one was moved. They are not really rivals now even counting the interleague match ups. MLB did not think they were rivals when they started interleague play in 1997 because the two franchises didn't face off until 2001.

What world record?

I still don't get why anyone even mentions the Rangers moving. I agree that tradition wouldn't be a big reason to keep either from moving, but the Rangers are already in the smallest division in baseball (4 teams) so why would anyone even think it is a consideration for the Rangers to move?
