Yup, between oil and timber - it doesn't look good.

As for that docu on North Korea that you mentioned - yes I did see that one - it was very good.

Its amazing what a closed society it is, I feel sorry for those ppl - they are brainwashed, scared and starving, with no hope in sight.

I sometimes go Youtube and go to "Journeyman pictures" - its a great outfit that does a lot of interesting docus. they had a good one on Cambodia/Kampuchia - the whole Pol Pot mess.

Yes, indeed. This was awful and it really put into perspective how bad those people have it. People say North Koreans. But it's not the people's fault.

If anything respect them and try to empathize with their absolute solitary confinement from any aspect of the real world.

My brother is the type who goes there and gloats about spending a dollar to get this and that...i just want to slap him and wish he was educated enough to know he is exploiting those people. And since we're not close to it, most people just let it slide.

Sad

I just finished watching "WWII HD" which is a full color documentary of World War II created by the History Channel from vintage and many unseen footage taken during the war. What I loved is they intertwined present day people with younger, narrated versions of themselves walking you through step after step of the war.

The narrators include Rob Lowe, Amy Smart, Steve Zahn, LL Cool J, Justin Bartha, Rob Corddry, Tim DeKay, Mark Hefti, James Kyson Lee, Ron Livingston, Josh Lucas and Jason Ritter and that all do a great job taking on the role of the person they are representing.

I was never a big fan of war documentaries because most are either too monotone and boring or over embellished in some areas while skipping other areas completely.

WWII HD follows a timeline with real details that I have never seen in a WWII documentary. It covers every single island battle in the Pacific for example rather than just the ones most people have heard about. I learned a lot that I did not know.

The fact that it was all shot in color and contains a lot of never seen before footage from around the world helps keep you glued to it the entire time.

I will warn you that there is a lot of carnage and disturbing images and video.

I'll watch it. That's what i like about documentaries is they cover almost anything and others do better jobs than others and are more objective, etc.

Dancing with the Devil - i think you will really like it Cowboy Mc. have to watch in subtitles but it well worth it. would like to hear your opinion if you do check it out.

Oh, its about the drug wars in the favelas of Rio De Janiero. Shot from both the swat police's point of view and also the drug dealers , brokered by a drug dealer turned pastor. Amazing to see the spiritual aspect intertwined with the violence and drug trade.

The wild wonderful whites of WV. Just a great example of what NOT to do in life and the over the top hillbilly backwoods ways of these people make you laugh at times and make you shake your head because of what the children of these people have to deal with as they grow up.

Who killed the electric car...pretty interesting stuff.

Anvil, The story of Anvil.

Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade - About some of the top video game players of the 80's. If you watched King of Kong you might want to watch this one.

A must watch...beautiful.

It was nice after they first showed that on VH1 and they had Anvil on That metal show.

Turns out AC/DC took them out as their opener and helped out a great deal.

King of Kong was definately fantastic. I'll have to check out the other one...

I've watched several food documentaries, Food Inc was very interesting and eye opening.

I thought Super Size me sucked, and Fat Head was better.

Foodmatters I'd rank with Michael Moore and Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed as a bunch of consiparcy theory rantings and not worth the time.

I was thinking about this today. I wish we could help some of those people, but they won't even let us in there. No wonder we're containing that country...with that mindset of their "leader", it could be the crazy guy who starts it all.

I'm going to watch this one tonight.

I deleted what it's about bc I don't like knowing before I watch sometimes. I'll get back to you on it. :) Thanks for recommending. Lots of doc enthusiasts here. :)
