Does Anyone Else Want a Rebuild Out of Boredom?

I'm all for a rebuild, but that means I want it gutted---not this halfway stuff. I would be all for the massive cap hits for two years and the dealing of good players to stock pile picks.
Parsons is the only guy I really wouldnt part with--even though I think he's a future headache.

If you don’t have a good regular season record you won’t make the playoffs. Tearing the team apart and moving on from all your best players will lead to years of futility but apparently you and some others don’t understand. There’s no fan base more ridiculous than this one. Just look at this thread.
We would never agree that at some point you have to move on from a player, tell me one player that we have let go this prior offseason that did not need to be released?
Just one..

If you want to know what real boredom is suffer watching losing seasons every year trying to rebuild. I would rather retool and stay competitive. I’m not interested in moving on from cornerstone players.
Name your cornerstones please.

Honestly rebuilding is the only thing that makes sense given the offseason they’ve had.

Move on from the QB and head coach. Start getting your cap in good position.

If they plan on keeping Dak. It makes far far far more sense to have extended him already.
I would really be interested in the behind the scenes thought process right now in the Cowboys upper management (Jones, Jones and McClay).

Do the Cowboys really intend to let Dak play out the year on this contract? Are they done with Dak or do they really want to re-sign Dak? Have they talked about the situation with Dak? Would they like to trade Dak now? How viable do they see Lance as a QB? Are the Cowboys ready to move on from MM? Could the Cowboys do a surprise June 1 cut of Dak?

You know, those 5-11 we suffered through wasn't only due to bad QBs. The team itself was also bad. Dallas went 4-1 when Dak got hurt with Cooper Rush under center. We weren't going 12-5, but we certainly wouldn't have lost anywhere near 11 games. With a good team, you can still make the playoffs with an average QB. That seems to be the goal for those that want to retain Dak. But I would agree that I don't want a complete rebuild.

Our defense played lights out when Rush went 5-1 and we had a running game. We never gave up more than 17 points. However, our offense wasn’t generating much. We went from 17th to number one on offense when Dak came back but our defense fell which it usually does later in the season.

Parsons and CeeDee which are two players a lot of fans don’t want to pay. Some fans didn’t want to pay Diggs. If you draft good players eventually you have to pay them. I had a fan tell me that he hopes players we draft don’t turn out great or they will cost us too much money.

I would have kept Tyron. He was still a very good player that provided depth.

With the same head coach and same QB, it just feels like the other pieces don’t matter. We will waffle somewhere between average and good, which I’m beginning to despise.

At this point I’d rather have a rebuild and accept an awful team with awesome draft pick position for a few years just to inject some novelty and long term hope

I know that’s not logical. I know anything can happen if you get to the playoffs, but I have 0 belief in this team as is. It’s like wanting to restart franchise mode in Madden because you made some bad decisions and just kept playing through it anyway.
Not out of boredom.....out of necessity

Turning around in the 90s and previous, was difficult. Turning around in the modern era is not relatively speaking.
It can be done with the right quarterback and FO......ala Stafford and the Rams organization

I agree with you 100%. But that goes to show what a good team surrounding an average to below average QB can do. We won't be winning any championships with Rush, but we won't be losing 11 games either.

That was 2 years ago with Rush and we’ve lost a number of players since then. On paper we don’t look near as good. We may struggle to win with Dak unless several young players step up. This current team isn’t going to win games with an average QB.

You may just get your wish next year. Time will tell.

No.

Boredom is 1-15 (or 16) and 3 straight 5-11 (or 12).

I’m know there are some who profess they knew 1989 was a temporary blip, but they were definitely in the minority. Talk radio, the water cooler and everyone around me in my section questioned whether Jimmy and Jerry were in way over their heads.

I don’t know. That defense couldn’t have held up for 17 games. And neither could Rush.

Steve Beurlein was excellent for a short time in relief of Aikman, but that was his ceiling. Same for Earl Morrell and Nick Foles.

We'll disagree on this. I believe we'll win 10-11 games. Maybe 8 games with an average QB. Tampa Bay won 9 games with Baker Mayfield. I just don't think this team will only win 5 games with an average QB.

I can't disagree. But what does it take to win a championship? Or are we content with coming close?

You are content with regular season record, we got you, everybody paying attention understands.
Yep as long we are beating the Giants and D.C. and a bunch of other dogs some are content to have the 7th seed come into our house and abuse us.

We’re not going to have an average QB in 2024. Tampa didn’t have a very tough schedule. They played Carolina twice. In their last 6 games of the season they only played one playoff team and that was Green Bay who wasn’t playing that good when Tampa faced them in week 15. With our schedule last season and our lack of a running game and our struggles against the run we wouldn’t have stood a chance with Mayfield at QB.
