Does anyone even care about the NBA lockout?

Just heard some news on it and it occurred to me that there's been very little talk about it on this board. Does anyone even care?

they are not playing yet? :laugh2:

If it gets resolved i'd probably watch a few games.. don't really miss it all that much though since hockey season is more important anyway.

Starting to miss it now, when the Mavs won i though i wouldn't even care if they locked out as it just meant more time to enjoy it but i miss it now

Even us hardcore fans think the season is too long anyway. So instead of panic and hand-wringing there's indifference and eye-rolling

Every restaurant worker in every NBA city cares. They're making more money the longer it goes on. That doesn't count wing joints and sports bars, but I wouldn't mind a bit if they cancel the season tomorrow. I figured it out last year, how much a Spurs game costs us, and its been pretty accurate this season.

A weekday away game, $1000 in sales. A weekday home game, $2000 or more. Weekend away game, $2000 to $3000. Weekend home game against someone like a major draw Miami or Lakers, $3000 to $5000 or more. So you take that and multiply that by 18% and that tells you how much my staff is loving no NBA games.

Long live the lockout!

Local businesses and arena workers are getting killed.

I gave up on the NBA a few years ago. I was going to try and watch a game last year and I simply couldn't. Fixing a playoff series just annoyed me to no end.

Hockey? Its back? :laugh2:

I would be ok with the NFL and half a season of baseball and playoffs. No other sports necessary.

Fixed it for you. :)

I just enjoy watching baseball in general, I'm bored during the week looking for something to watch. With baseball's season there is usually always a game on.

I've started watching a little hockey ever since the last Olympics, which I thought was great hockey. But I still don't catch many games.

NBA though? Psh, I don't care if they never have another game. I will watch the playoffs and root for the Texas teams, but that's about it. Rooting for the Mavs last post-season was fun though, but I'm in no way a die hard.

Gave up on it years ago as well due to the refs. It was way before I found out about the ref's tie in to gambling. It was the idea that one player on one team could get away with multiple blatant fouls because they were the face of the NBA while another player could just look at someone and get a Technical foul...and the two players were playing on the same team at that time.

Basketball died in the 90s. Plus the season is too friggin long. Each game doesn't mean much.

I do....my team finally is good and they get locked out. Why couldn't it happen when they sucked? :laugh1:

Not really, no.

The NBA could shut down for years and I wouldn't miss it all that much. It's be the easiest of the 4 major sports to do without for me.

I do, I want to see the Mavs raise that banner and get those rings, plus I'm a huge Mavs fan and watch almost every game but it's not bothering me right now with the Cowboys playing and the Baseball off season. Although, if they do another round of cancelling (which would be up until Christmas) it might get irritating especially because this is the Mavs championship defense season.

That's how I feel about baseball

I miss the NFL lockout.

Seriously - I dont care about the NBA now. Maybe they can come back after the new year, 50 game schedule.
