Does anyone think that Super Bowls don't grow on trees?

Who says SB every year? How about the playoffs more than once every 17 years. We are one of only 3 teams to sink that low. Again, this is the same organization that has been historically a winner...a record 20 straight seasons at one point. Why not expect better than mediocrity or bottom of the barrel?

Go look up the facts...once in 17 years? 1 of 3 teams? We been to the payoffs in more seasons since out last SB in 95, than the Commanders since their last SB in 91.

We've made 7 times in the last 17 years.

I agree with you on this "organization that has been historically a winner...a record 20 straight seasons at one point. Why not expect better than mediocrity or bottom of the barrel?"

I don't expect mediocrity but I am a realist and 1. Jerry Jones ain't going no where so folks should shut up about that (im not talking about u) and 2. Like I said b4, coaches get fired far to often and it amazes me that the winning-est coaches in the league have been there a long time. It doesn't take 3 years to build a program and every coach wants to do it "his" way. Which seldom works. Take Brandon Carr for example, Carr is best in press coverage

I agree with you. When the problem with the team isn't going anywhere you should shut up about it and pretend there's another problem.

You nailed how successful coaches coach longer too.

With a poorly run Franchise that rarely makes a Playoff appearance, it's not just about Super Bowls.

That would be a good question for Jerry Jones since he's the guy who's been firing head coaches every three years. Not the fans.

AND thats the thing, of course he gonna fire the HC based on fan outcry

If that's how you feel maybe you should keep writing those letters and signing online petitions calling of JERRY JONES to step down. Just accept that sh** and move on. In particular what has Jerry Jones t make yall hate him so much? Mad cuz the beers and cheese steaks at Cowboys stadium? Upset because went you go to cowboys stadium you got a snore neck from looking at the video boards? Hate that every draft pick since 2003 hasn't been named a starter at OTA's? what is it?

All you want is a shot and for 16+ years we have had 1 shot and we blew the living hell out of that one shot

It's about not even trying to get to the Super Bowl. When you have one playoff victory in over a decade and a half .... and you don't even try to change your general manager, you are not trying to win a Super Bowl, or even compete in the post season as an organization.

One playoff win...sorry it came out that way. I've made the statement 100 times here so sometimes lost in translation.

Don't grow on tress and it's actually a tough road to win one as the reason why we haven't been, instead of blaming Jerry or the Coach every year?

Think about the San Diego, Bengals, Falcons

These organizations somewhat mirror us. They have talent but either just miss the playoffs or get knocked out in the first round.

The reason, winning a championship is hard. Like DeWayne Wade told LeBron after their first title together.

But does anyone ask Arthur Blank to sell the team because they are coming up short? No. Do you even know the names of the owners of the Bengals (Mike Brown) and only "hard knocks fans would really know that" or Chargers (Alex Spanos)

But you could say that those owners aren't' GM/Presidents...oh wait Mike Brown is the president of the Bengals. Or we can take Commanders owner Dan Snyder who isn't a GM or president and the fans still outcry from Snyder to sell the team.

The only reason we pick on Jerry and Washingtonians pick on Snyder is because they are well known owners.

So lets tackle the coaches they brought in (as they do have a say in that) due to this "gotta have it now" feeling in the U.S. every team thinks that they are rightly entitled ti a Super Bowl every 4 years. When that doesn't work. (because building a TEAM isn't a 3 year process) these owners are pressured into firing what could have been a good head coach. (See the Jets stint with Pete Carroll and the Browns with Bill B.)

In the infancy of the NFL, teams kept coaches for more or less UNTIL they won, Chuck Noll (Steelers) was HC of the Steelers and didn't start winning until 1972 (his 3rd season) before that Noll won only 12 of 32 games coached. Laundry only won 9 games (within 3 years). In today NFL these coaches would have been fired.

The bottom line is that we have to be patient. I think a lot of think is karma but not in a bad way. think of all the teams in sports you know that have few champions. After the Steelers won their 4 titles you couldn't find them in the 80's. In basket ball when Bird and Magic left the Celtics and Lakers where at the bottom of the totem pole fir about 8 years or so. Even tho this team didn't win the Super Bowl but the Bills made it to 4 straight Super Bowls, and have only won one playoff game since.

So does anyone think that it's not solely on us. However the fact that Super Bowls aren't easy to by but we will get on soon?

I've tried to make this post in the past, with the same results. I just don't get the air of entitlement that most long time fans have. Why are we owed anything as fans and why is 7 playoffs in 17 years not enough? What do Tom Landry's teams have to do with today's team? The only thing the same is the uniforms. Jerry gets no credit for turning around a declining franchise and winning 3 Super Bowls, it was all Jimmy even though he never duplicated his success either. All of Dallas' success came before the salary cap, before rampant free agency and before TV revenue made every team profitable.

Romo is 63-45 as a starter, not great but it averages out to 9.3 wins a year. In his 8 years they have made the playoffs 3 times, missed by 1 game 3 times and still have a chance to win the Division this year. Yet everyone says it's not "Super Bowl" or bust when they complain. They say they just don't accept mediocrity.

Since Dallas won in 1995 there have been 10 winners of the last 17 Super Bowls. Would you trade those 3 Super Bowls for any of the teams below? You could make a strong case for New England, but that's it for me. And they play in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL and haven't won in almost a decade.

New England 3
Green Bay 2*
Denver 2*
Baltimore 2*
Pittsburgh 2*
NY Giants 2*
St Louis 1
Tampa Bay 1
Indianapolis 1
New Orleans 1
*- All these teams won one SB as the Wild Card(that's 5 out of 17, I would say making the playoffs has to be the goal and should be considered a successful season).

LOL at the notion Jones does anything based on fan outcry. If that were the case, he would have fired himself a long time ago.

No, Jones keeps firing coaches to deflect attention away from the real problem: his dismal stewardship of this franchise.

You are actually making our point. In an era of parity many teams have made a run. The Cowboys are one of 3-4 teams to win 0-1 playoff games in that span. So that means instead of taking advantage of a watered down league and turning things around quick or being like NE and others who are always in contention, we are basically mediocre and not able to make any runs. 8-8 and sneaking in isn't striving for anything.

entitlement of those of us that have been around longer? perhaps...I expect to be in the playoffs if they are spending resources (which they are)....but, the thing that REALLY irks me is that there is no hope of a fundamental change...until we lost to Chicago, I had hope that the 3-year plan by Garrett was going to push us into perennial playoff contention...then, we get beat like the red-headed step children that this team is...Jones comes out and says he will be GM for at least 10-15 more years (depression sets in)....then, we entirely collapse in a humiliating loss to GB, only to be more humiliated (as a fan) that our owner, who CANNOT shut his mouth, has to come out and be happy about the entertainment value of losing that GB game...wait, what?

hope is now lost for me for the future...I will be cheering loudly at my 47" TV with beer in hand on Sunday night, hoping, beyond all hope, that there will be a home game the following week...but, it won't change my outlook on the future of the team...in my 40+ years of watching/following the teams and players, I have never lost hope for the future of the franchise until the last month or so....entitled? perhaps...depressed on the state of the team? ubetcha
