LOL at the notion Jones does anything based on fan outcry. If that were the case, he would have fired himself a long time ago.

No, Jones keeps firing coaches to deflect attention away from the real problem: his dismal stewardship of this franchise.

Exactly right.

You are actually making our point. In an era of parity many teams have made a run. The Cowboys are one of 3-4 teams to win 0-1 playoff games in that span. So that means instead of taking advantage of a watered down league and turning things around quick or being like NE and others who are always in contention, we are basically mediocre and not able to make any runs. 8-8 and sneaking in isn't striving for anything.

Well we play in the NFC East, & although this is a "down" year for its standards, it's still simply head and shoulders above the AFC East.

Miami, Buffalo and the Jersey Jets are about as bad as it gets.

Take this team over the last 5-6 years and put them in that Division.

Just like the Manning era Colts. They beat up on the Jaguars, Texans (team who had never even been to the playoffs and do so only once manning is gone) & the Titans.

When do how much money players & coaches make have to do with winning a SB?

You completely missed my point. Which was that the players & coaches are paid so much nowadays that fans expect quick results. If you have a player making many millions per year & he plays like crap the fans are going to scream.

Or a coach. Garrett makes millions. Million dollar results from him? Nope. He can't even manage a game.

The texans have been to the playoffs several times in recent years.

Don't grow on tress and it's actually a tough road to win one as the reason why we haven't been, instead of blaming Jerry or the Coach every year?

Think about the San Diego, Bengals, Falcons

These organizations somewhat mirror us. They have talent but either just miss the playoffs or get knocked out in the first round.

The reason, winning a championship is hard. Like DeWayne Wade told LeBron after their first title together.

But does anyone ask Arthur Blank to sell the team because they are coming up short? No. Do you even know the names of the owners of the Bengals (Mike Brown) and only "hard knocks fans would really know that" or Chargers (Alex Spanos)

But you could say that those owners aren't' GM/Presidents...oh wait Mike Brown is the president of the Bengals. Or we can take Commanders owner Dan Snyder who isn't a GM or president and the fans still outcry from Snyder to sell the team.

The only reason we pick on Jerry and Washingtonians pick on Snyder is because they are well known owners.

So lets tackle the coaches they brought in (as they do have a say in that) due to this "gotta have it now" feeling in the U.S. every team thinks that they are rightly entitled ti a Super Bowl every 4 years. When that doesn't work. (because building a TEAM isn't a 3 year process) these owners are pressured into firing what could have been a good head coach. (See the Jets stint with Pete Carroll and the Browns with Bill B.)

In the infancy of the NFL, teams kept coaches for more or less UNTIL they won, Chuck Noll (Steelers) was HC of the Steelers and didn't start winning until 1972 (his 3rd season) before that Noll won only 12 of 32 games coached. Laundry only won 9 games (within 3 years). In today NFL these coaches would have been fired.

The bottom line is that we have to be patient. I think a lot of think is karma but not in a bad way. think of all the teams in sports you know that have few champions. After the Steelers won their 4 titles you couldn't find them in the 80's. In basket ball when Bird and Magic left the Celtics and Lakers where at the bottom of the totem pole fir about 8 years or so. Even tho this team didn't win the Super Bowl but the Bills made it to 4 straight Super Bowls, and have only won one playoff game since.

So does anyone think that it's not solely on us. However the fact that Super Bowls aren't easy to by but we will get on soon?

We have one playoff win in 17 years and you are asking us for patience?

Forget the SuperBowl, how about a dam winning record?..................its almost year 4 of the Opie 500 tour............when can we expect just one dam season with a winning record under Garrett, year 5, year 6, year 7?

Let me guess.................."winning records are hard"....................Yep, they sure are, especially when your head coach botches 2 to 3 games a year that virtually everybody else in the league would win.

I'm not saying that the AFC East is great but the Jets were good for years. The NFC East has been bad for more than just this year. Washington was/is terrible for all but one year. Philly too. Giants always made run but started horribly. Don't give the division too much credit when 9-7 wins it every year. The Pats have owned that division for over a decade. It still doesn't change the point that parity rules and teams have used that...except for the Cowboys

The GIANTS have won 2 more Superbowls than the entire AFC EAST has over the past 5 years and they beat the Patriots to do it.

So the only fact that I see is 9-7 in the NFC East is Much Better than 16-0 & 13-3 in the AFC EAST.

Not sure if it has already been said, but anyone asking Jerry Jones to sell the team is being very short-sighted. Jerry Jones is an awesome owner. In that role, Jerry Jones has actually been great for the game of football. The problem is Jerry Jones the GM. It is a conflict of interest to have the guy responsible for making the organization profitable and the guy responsible for making the last decision on personnel being the same guy. The money guy panders to the public. That is ultimately his responsibility. To do his best to put guys on the field people will pay to see. Problem with that, the easy way of doing that is keeping the guys they already know and love, which means keeping over-the-hill, overpriced veterans. The money guy tends to forget that you pay for what a player is going to give you, not what he has given you. Which leads to situations like Jay Ratliff, Demarcus Ware, Anthony Spencer, the extension Hatcher may get for what he has done this year and may never do again, considering his age, Miles Austin, Jason Witten, admittedly to a lesser extent since he amazingly remains productive, etc. The personnel guy simply wants to put the best player on the field. In essence, when money guy and personnel guy are the same guy, you get scatter-shooting-decision-making; which is exactly what we have seen since he took over. Some times he makes a good move. Some times it's stupid. But, as we have all seen, he sure has made alot of money making this team one of the richest organization in sports. So what's that tell you about who is winning Jerry Jones internal argument the most?

The Texans FIRST made the playoff in 2011 wdf...as for the how much he makes thing is moot, if Garrett made 30K we would still have problem with him. and what should we care what he makes U dont sign the check (and you can go say we spend our money, if you feel that way then don't had see how much the next coaches salary goes down)

Im not asking for patience im asking to be realistic. you want a winning season, since 1996 we have had 8 (with this year yet to be determined) That's half (as ESPN says mindlessly we are average) and As I have stated in this thread a team AFTER winning a few Super Bowls in a row has about a 10 year downturn. Now mind you we've also has 3 season of 8-8. So in 17 years we've only had 6 losing season, we're under the 10 year downturn mark with a promising team.

At least SD and Atlanta have played in Championship games the past few years and as for the Bengals, they have made the playoffs and won the division the past few years, the thing is, it's been very frustrating being a fan of this team the past 17 years and specially the last 6 because you knew we were close. With Tony, Witten and Ware up there in age and injuries you just figure we are about to start rebuilding and that is even more frustrating. When you have a quality QB you have to take advantage of it and we didn't, those kind of QB's (a top 5-8 QB) don't come around that often.

The fact that we do have a promising team is why so many of want a real coach. Garrett squanders anywhere from 2 - 4 games a year with unbelievably pathetic game / clock management. We should already of had the division locked up this year, even with our porous defense and injury bug, had Garrett had the sense to manage just one of the games correctly that he cost us. On that same note, it has been the exact same situation in all three years he has been the non-interim head coach. In short we want a coach that is not learning on the job.

I think that is the whole point of this thread, they have been close. But based on the hysteria and hyperbole around here, you would think it was the Campo era again. The NFC East is a very tough division and playing for the title 3 straight years in Week 17 isn't terrible. It sucks we have lost, but don't act like it means nothing.

What championship games have the Chargers played in? (outside of 94) So you rather be teams with NO super bowls that a team that has 5 in their showcase? really?
