That's a very, very, very low percentage kick even for the best. I'd say no, he wouldn't. But he should have got the chance.
He had already hit two long FG's that day, and he was kicking inside at his home stadium. If there was ever a day Bailey could hit a record tying FG, it was Sunday. Too bad we'll never know.
If T-Will had caught the ball and--giving him a few bonus extra yards--had picked up 2-3 yards before getting out of bounds at the 45-46 yard line, would Dan Bailey have made a 63 yarder?
I realize the odds are extremely slim. His career long is 56 and that was on Sunday.
Kickers will tell you that nailing two absolute perfect kicks, distance and accuracy, in the same game is rare.
But we know Bailey and it'd been nice to see him get the chance. I'd never rule it out.
What do you think.
Just curious
The 56 yarder was good by several yards.I don't think Dan has the leg to get it there
Yep looked like it would have been good from 65-68 yardsThe 56 yarder was good by several yards.
First is the 56 yarder, 2nd is 54 yards.
It looks like it's possible, but the angle and trajectory needed shrink.
He was in the zone Sunday. I have no doubt he would have nailed it.
And there would have probably been a holding penalty to negate it.
