Sure.

A lot of people believe if you can"t quantify sometbing..

It doesn't exist.

I have been fortunate enough to know luck always is a factor in anything.

Took 2 years in college for my pre-med degree of statistics and probability for lab experiments.

A small percentage always has to be allowed in research. It's usually listed as 'Other' in the outcome list.

It's the unexplainable outside the norm outcomes.

Luck.

So I read with interest how people Google stuff and take it as gospel becuz it says so on their computer.

What a laugh.

It's a living.

Being a scout or talent specialist is always dependent on what your experience is with the criteria.

If it fits you, great.

If not, you fake it and hope you can get by and collect your check and get DTR.

I don't believe in luck or karma. You to a point have control of your life and how you live unless theres a man made disease that keeps you under house arrest.

Also Tom Brady wasn't luck. Tony Romo wasn't luck either. Fortunate to have them become what they became, yes, but not luck. Tom Brady knew who, what he was and who, what he was going to become. What 6th round pick says to the owner the first time they meet that they are going to be the best pick they ever made and mean it. He worked his *** off, became what he knew he could become. Thats hard work, not luck. He made himself.
 
...that and scheme, placing your talent level in the best positions to succeed.

Saying Garrett ran set schemes and wouldn't adapt to different types of players on offense is silly. He's run the gamut on the types of offensive players he's accomodated during his time here (2007-2019).

Pocket passers and mobile QBs who called for us to install the option into our playbook.

Bruising running backs, complete running backs, and tiny gadget RBs who could barely be trusted to hand the ball to them on real running plays. Blocking fullbacks and more finesse, speedier fullbacks.

Lumbering blocking tight ends and weaker TEs who are good only at running routes in the passing game.

Big physical receivers and little speedy ones. Guys who are route-running technicians and guys who get by purely on physical talent and dont know route-running well enough to competently coach a high school receiver on how to properly run routes.

Sloppy fat o-linemen and leaner athletic ones.

Our offense took in all different kinds of guys over the years when Garrett ran the offense and ran the team.

It was only defense where we became entirely inflexible and unable/unwilling to accommodate players who deviated from a rigid template, and I think that was solely the Tampa 2 guys' issue. Prior to switching to Kiffin and Marinelli, I think we had more flexibility.

Love your prose bro. Keep up the great work and post more. Your posts give me an actual reason to read instead of just flip through regurgitated and or repeated banter. Your original thought that is usually backed with empirical history data on the team is a refreshing style to read. Great job.
 
Clearly the Cowboys war room liked the guys we picked more than most other clubs. We are either ahead of the curve or we can't evaluate. We need to see these guys in action to know.

Really? lets see.... Seifert won SBs with Steve Young and Joe Montana. No QB? Andy Reid went to the SB with McNabb, likely a HOF qb, Jimmy won 2 SBs with Troy Aikman Tomlin hasnt won jack without Big Ben behind center. So which of these coaches won with no qb? By the way, Tomlin took over a team just like Barry Switzer did.... ready to rock and roll.

Every year 25% of coaches are new. They are coming from a team that set the world on fire... they come in, some do well for a little bit, some come in and suck... but they all were supposed to be gurus. Some get lucky and get a russel wilson, or an Aaron Rodgers (MM) and if you luck into that... yiu are good to go. Amazing how that iffensive mastermind was avg when Alex Smith was in KC... Mahomes showed up, and the mastermind returned.
