Does Deuce Vaughn Even Make 2025?

Maybe someday when he grows up, he'll be a pro caliber player. He needs to grow about 5 inches.

Draft Kenneth Grant and things will improve fast and Mazy will improve with coaching.Grant is a beast.
With CB and WR needs being big I can almost guarantee that cowboys won’t even think about DT until pick 75 or later

I also think RB is looked at as more important it’s not the trenches is where you win.

I’d love to be shocked

He's got some moves but seems to struggle behind our current oline which doesn't look improved going into this year, couple that with the rb we signed ( good pass catcher) and it seems like he doesn't have a role unless it's the 3rd back.

Fit wise feels like it's setting up for him to be a potential cut but I could see him being the 3rd back

He shouldn’t make the team.

If he was good enough he would play more, and do more, when given the chance.

He does have speed.

Big Mike kind of ignored him.
problem with him is he sits behind Turpin on the depth chart. Hes a gadget guy and need space. He cant block very well.I mean what plays can you design for him that you cant do for Turpin as well. our Oline blocking needs to be very good for him to succeed

I just don't see much impact from him

he is the best rb on the roster right now...plus his o-line coach from kstate is his new o-line coach here.
it'll be a huge upset if he doesn't.

Hes not that thick either. He's a stocky guy but not so much by nfl standards. I dont know if he's put on some muscle though. We need him at a minimum of 190 I would think. 176 is too little.
190 at his size? Are you crazy! I think you are.

When did he get a chance?

He hasn't. Freakin McCarthy!
I just cannot get your fascination about that kid. Instead of actually looking at his stats when he is used, you revert back to MM all the time. Maybe MM sees what a lot of us fans see, a kid that does not really belong, and you know exactly why he is on the team and it is not because of this great talent you think he has.

Signed, MM.

I feel fairly confident that the new regime will want to see firsthand what Deuce is capable of. If not, perhaps they're not nearly as thorough as they should be. TC will give him the opportunity to prove his wares, if only the new coaches offer that for him.

If not, they won't be doing their job. There's no doubt that he hasn't been tested enough to deserve being cut at this juncture. TC should be available to serve that purpose. Deuce should be tested enough to get a good picture of that can be expected of him in the days to come. The new coaches would be foolish not to learn of his worth.

With McCarthy being out of the picture, Schottenheimer would be foolish not to at least learn exactly what to expect from Deuce. That's not to say he has all the talent needed to find success, though.

Any failure to find out what Deuce has to offer for Schottenheimer should be deemed as a failure to exploit the possibility that McCarthy didn't afford him a decent chance to prove his wares.

I think he likely deserves that much before being shown the door. It seems evident that the testing he got wasn't enough to conclude that he should be released. There might be work yet to be done. Let's just see if TC offers him a fair chance or not.

No he really hasn't.

He hasn't been given anything. Name one, just one, play designed for him since he was drafted. You can't because there hasn't been any.

Epic fail = McCarthy.
You keep repeating the same thing. If you have to design plays for him then he’s a gadget guy. He’s had 40 rushing attempts and his longest run is only 13 yards. Practically every time Turpin touches the ball as an RB he makes a play. You continue to be enamored with his college tape. When Deuce ends up in the UFL I’ll be telling you I told you so.

I doubt it and I had high hopes for him

But you gotta give a RB the ball more than 2 times every other week

Yes. And it wasn't an experiment. Please.

It's not Vaughn's fault the Cowboys had bad coaching (especially McCarthy) who had no idea how to use him.

This reminds me of all the threads and posts after the draft last year where people kept saying over and over he wouldn't make the team.
You are correct the main reason he hasn't seen the field would be the lack of creativity and misuse by coaching staff,

however, the real problem is he does a lot of the same things Turpin does and Turpin as little as he is surprisingly tough, he's not injured, there's never been enough opportunities to get Vaughn on the field...

I mean think about it the stuff he could do from the backfield regardless of if you call him a running back or a scat-back or third down receiver like Turpin, it doesn't matter they both play special teams they're both returners they both do more out of motion and getting out in open space and on the edge...

I guess we'll find out because at least one of the coaches just came from K state may have a familiarity with him, maybe he gets an opportunity, but again it's going to be tough.

Yes I agree I watched him in college and I've seen him be very successful as a running back and he can do some stuff giving some more opportunities but how much of the roster will we be able to give up if we need to go deep in another position he might be one of those casualties constantly inactive or on the practice squad et cetera etc ...
