Does Jerry have an obligation to the fans?

I am here because I love a number of the Cowboys players: Ware, Witten, Romo, Newman, etc.

I have invested hundreds of hours of my life in the Cowboys--more than I want to admit--reading, chatting, going to games, watching games.I am now a fan--in absentia. I would consider coming back if Stephen Jones was GM--or someone else.

Maybe this is my way of venting before I finalize on following another team. It's like a potential divorce. It's not clean-cut in how you feel about things.

I just know this: I'm way beyond mad at Jerry Jones and I have zero respect for the man. I feel if you love the Cowboys then you can't help but be ticked at him.

As this thread bears out: I feel an owner or coach or player has moral and social obligations and Jones is in breach of that contract.

I'm just a little guy but I will fight him as hard as I can in my own little way.

While Jones surely wants to win, the motivation may be more validation than winning for the fans.

Owners and fans have different goals.

Owners want to make a profit.

Fans want to win it all.

If both can be accomplished, then the owner will go along with the fan.

If profits must be sacrificed for the team to win it all, the owner will take as healthy a fan base as possible and come as close as profitability will allow.

In case you haven't noticed my opinion is the dominant one among true oldschool cowboy fans.

I can absolutely guarantee you that I feel no differently about this situation than Troy Aikman and a number of all-time Cowboy greats does.

You want to kick him out of the Cowboy world too?

You are the one that is ridiculous. Go censor someone else.

Jerry Jones will never change and the Cowboys will now become the successor to the Oakland Raiders. Jerry is an "Ego Maniacal Windbag" and the Cowboys are going to be the laughing stock of the NFL until he dies or turns over the reigns to his son who might bring in a "Football Man" to run this team.

Jerry could spend another Gazzillion dollars on this collection of so called "Talent" and they still wouldn't sniff the Super Bowl. It takes a "Team" to win the big one, not a collection of "Me Me" players who only care about seeing their names in light.

Sorry boys, if you want to follow real teams then say goodbye to Dallas and head over to Pittsburg or New England.:bang2:

Pittsburgh had to have the refs hand them their last 2 SB trophies and they all of a sudden are a model franchise??? (I guess all the cheap shots and late hits and Harrison punching a guy in the SB dont count???).

As for the Pats, I dont really consider a team that had to cheat to win a model organization as apparently you do. They are a bunch of cheaters and disrespect the game and all players that made the league what it is today. You can put a big ASTERIK next to their Lombardis..........they are tainted.

But since you feel these two organizations are so much better than us........WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING???

No, he really doesn't. The proof is that he is still GM after 13 years of suckage. Before you try and refute this just ask yourself this, would Jerry have fired another person for the same level of failure if he had hired them to be GM? Be honest.

Honesty.......If I had a GM that assembled a roster of 13 prowobowlers and signed them all to long term contracts and the team was universally considered to be one of the most talented teams in the league by other GMs and Scouts...............I dont fire him.

The job of a GM is to assemble talent first and foremost.

Lets say Jerry never took the GM job and named Fred the GM. Well Fred says that under his tenure that the team won 3 SB titles and the current group of players is considered to be one of the most talented in the league.

Fred also admits that he hired one of the all time great HCs in Bill Parcells and for nearly half a decade turned over alot of personnel decisions (that previously Fred make all by himself) to this legandary coach.

So in summary: (under Fred's tenure as GM)

Fred has won 3 SB titles
Fred hired a legandary coach and gave up authority
Fred has assembled a roster of 13 probowlers
Fred has signed all probowlers to extensions
Fred has assembled arguably the most talented team

WOULD YOU FIRE FRED?????

(Now replace Fred with Jerry Jones and answer again)

If Jerry truly was doing everything to produce a winner and he truly wasnt more concearned about stroking his ego he would of learned from Parcells that is important for a head coach to be surrounded by people he trusts and can work with.

Hiring an offensive coordinator before the head coach is a joke. Maybe Jerry doesnt see it but his constant undermining of his coaches will NEVER produce a winner.

What exactly did we learn from Parcells???

Jerry turned over complete control to Parcells, even mentioned that everybody had to walk on eggshells at VR in fear of Parcells, and what did that accomplish???

What exactly did turning everything over to an old school HC who ruled with an iron fist accomplish that was not accomplished with previous soft coaches like Campo and Gailey and the new softy in Wade???

No playoff wins either way, so why would Jerry again switch and go back to a HC that rules everything when we didnt win JACK before under that style???

A. You can buy the team from Jerry and run it yourself.
B. You can go find another team or boycott the Boyz.
C. You can shut the hell up and hope for the best.

I've chosen 2.

But I think whoever tried to circumscribe these as the only options is a lame censor.

If we are playing that game I say if you love the Cowboys you have one option:
A. Rail on Jerry Jones endlessly.

Who the hell is trying to censure you???

You have 3 options plus Hostile added a 4th option and you claim to be censured and offer only 1 option in rebuttle.

Thats weak dude, you need to bring better game then that if you are crying about being censured.

If we need to reach you we will check the Pittsburgh board first, thats where most defectors are heading these days.

You going to kick out Chad Hennings? Bob Lilly? Troy Aikman?

You going to kick out the classy leaders who know this is a Jerry Jones dark comedy--only getting worse.

Jerry is going down in a big cloud of ash this next season. Maybe then--maybe then Stephen can pick up the pieces and the Cowboys can re-emerge as something other than the Brittany Spears of the NFL.

If you love the Cowboys you have to oppose Jerry Jones. There is no other way. He holds the team captive.

Oppose him. Deprive him of your support. If you love the Cowboys there is no other way.

"Jerry has done a phenomenal job promoting the franchise. But is he a football guy? Does he know the Xs and Os? Does he know personnel? It's like the Ronald Reagan principle - you have the best people around, delegate, and stay the hell out of the way. That's where the downfall of the Cowboys organization starts. Sometimes Jerry needs to stay out of the way" Chad Hennings

You spit on Landry's grave with your attitude. You spit on Jimmy Johnson. You spit on Troy Aikman.

You are a Judas if you defend what Jones is doing to this franchise.

And you are very presumptuous to think you know who I am.

Yes, he does have an obligation to the fans.

Without the fans, he is nothing.
