Does Mingo mean we don't have to draft a WR high?

I guess they are going to HOPE Mingo shows something. I guess getting him this early they should know by March if he is a guy or nah. But this trade was weird. Especially if we keep trending down like we are. We could end up with a high 4th rounder.

this trade makes no sense.
We need draft picks in the worst way.
i was hoping one if our big salary guys would be traded for high draft picks.
Diggs, Bland, or Parsons.
You do realize we have the same number of draft picks(10) that we started the day with.

The guy has done absolutely nothing in 24 games. Unless he shows up the rest of the season or looks great in camp, which means nothing, then no, they might need to draft a WR high.

We likely werent going to anyways. Not a great draft for it. In their mind, I think Mingo is them buying low on a guy they were high on a year and a half ago

How is a 4th rounder “ low “ when the Steelers got Mike Williams and for a better price then Jerry paid . Like the Lance trade I don’t think 4th round is “ cheap “ . Schultz & Pollard were 4th rounders .

My greatest hope already is that we are in position to draft the RB from Boise St, Ashton Jeanty.
Forget not drafting a RB in round 1. This guy is a difference maker, a playmaker in the run and passing game, a threat to go to the house on every touch.

5'9" - 215 lbs
4.42, clocked at over 22 mph in games
Elite vision, contact balance, rare combination of quickness and long speed, breaks tackles with ease due to surprising strength.
Soft hands and game breaker who anticipates gaps and shoots through them.

This guy is the real deal and exactly what the Cowboys need. He will make life easier for everyone.

Like the kid a lot but there are so many d— wholes on this team, I don’t even know where to begin. This because he is so d— stubborn to change and want to do it his way.

He can't be the end all be all, we can't be placing our stock in this guy for a position of need. It's a need because we need play makers, surely not up there with OL DL RB etc!!!! How does he affect our draft. I'm guessing if he plays well it might, even if he doesn't you know how hopeful Jerry is! Please give your thoughts
My guess, yes along with a year of development on Flournoy!
They may bring in another receiver FA on a 1yr contract to compete but those 2 would have preference if close!
Don’t think there was ever a chance of drafting one high unless someone fell precipitously!

They're definitely going to push Mingo to that #2 WR spot and allow him to sink/swim for at least 2025 season. So i doubt a WR is selected before Day 3 of the next draft.
If Mingo is in the mix for our #2 we’re in trouble and we’ll definitely be looking at WR in the draft. We only have one solid receiver. Cooks will be gone after this season and although Tolbert has improved and has been a pretty good #3 he’s a long way from what we need at the #2 receiver spot. Ferguson isn’t developing into a great TE and Dak needs weapons. We have to improve at receiver and Mingo isn’t an improvement.

He is a complementary piece. That's what spending a 4th on a WR gets you. There were 3 WR's taken in the 4th round last April. Do you think if
Troy Franklin, Javon Walker or Devontez Walker are in the mix for their teams WR2 that they are in trouble?

I’m not saying I agree with the stance but this is absolutely what they will say after the draft with no WR taken in early rounds.

They can draft any position. They need to hit on their 1st three picks. One of the picks needs to be a running back. That should fit one way or another. They could possibly draft Jeanty in the 1st or one of the other backs in the 2nd or 3rd. They could also draft one of the dtackles in the 1st or another position if they see somebody they want. They could also trade back and get an additional pick.

The Mingo deal could actually work out well. We will have to see how good he becomes this season and next.

It does make sense. They have 10 picks. Mingo is under his rookie deal for a couple of years. Mingo is probably better than any receiver you could get in the 4th round and the Cowboys have plenty of draft currency and will end up with plenty rookies on the team next year.
