Does parting ways with MM bring more hope or uncertainty?

I'd say hope because there is a 1% chance Jerry hires someone who can run this circus even with Jerry trying to pull the strings...aka Parcells like

If MM stayed, it was 100% more of the same - so in the words of Lloyd Christmas - "So you're telling me there's a chance"

Now, who is that - I'm not even sure

I cannot convince myself that whoever Jerry hires will make a difference because the guy calling the shots is still Jerry. Only the Jerry we have now is losing his mental faculties, IMO.

I raise the same point again, we came out of the 2023 season after being beaten badly by Aaron Jones and the GB Packers. Jones had a million yards and 100 TDs I think. But we all knew the problem. Our DL stinks. We need some better players there. What did Jerry do? He let Armstrong and Gallimore, and Hankins and Fowler leave. Not that Gallimore was that good or anything, but he was a body. But the point is, Jerry did nothing to replace these players really. Yeah, he drafted Kneeland. And Rogers. Signed a couple of guys as undrafted free agents. But the reality is, he did not even try to improve on what they had before. The Cowboys finished 4th worst in the league in run yards allowed per game. They were awful. That's not on McCarthy or Zimmer. That's on the guy who buys the groceries.

The other obvious problem was we couldn't run the football. Our best RB left for free agency, again, Jerry made no serious attempts to re-sign him. Instead we went into the season with Zeke, Vaughn and Rico. Is there another team with a worse group of RBs? No matter what you think of Rico, he was not an upgrade over Pollard.

If you ask me, MM worked miracles to win 7 games, and almost beat Washington again despite not having his only skill position threat on the field and a bad backup QB.

The problem in 2024 was not Mike McCarthy. That doesn't mean McCarthy doesn't have warts. He does. But no matter who Jerry hires he will fail because Jerry is not buying groceries in 2025 either. He'll pick leftovers out of the dumpsters behind restaurants like he's been doing while telling us his draft picks are all home runs.

One ther thought. Jerry is 82. Will his new coach have a new owner before his contract is expired?

Your last thought provides some hope.

There are many who wanted him fired last year after playoff debacle. And that grew with 3-7 record this year. But the vibe begun to change as we won 4 out of 5 games without our starting QB and depleted injured roster as the team appeared to continue fighting hard.

I think the vibe at end of season was Jethro would likely resign MM assuming he wanted to come back and not entertain other teams interested. And this ending may come as a surprise to many.

So, I’d be curious to hear your thoughts and why this provides you more hope or more uncertainty.
Both...And...

Personally I feel as if this has to hit more of a bottom before it can get better.

They need to hit big time failure and the criticism to hit an all time high for them to go with someone that can come in and run it all. This is going to take years to set in, but I mean…honestly how long can Jerry insist on being GM? 85-86 years old? Never wins. Seriously?

Jerry’s only success is with Johnson and to a much lesser degree, Parcells. It’s not turning around with one of his puppets now.

We have to have a coach who will stand up to Jethro. And at the same time be someone better than MM.
That is a tall order; honestly the only one mentioned I had any hope for who might do that was Vrabel but he is gone.

KM will be just another lapdog for Jethro. He basically owes him too much to ever cross him.
Nope. Jethro won't hire a coach who will stand up to Jethro.

Considering he should have been fired after the awful most penalized playoff loss to SF, followed that with the most lopsided playoff loss in dallas history, it certainly is a step in the right direction getting rid of MM, i knew if they kept him they already would have been eliminated from next years playoffs. Any new coach at least brings some hope. Also, I find it laughable how some people commend MM for winning meaningless games when the season was already over and the pressure was off as some kind of accomplishment

McCarthy was never going to take this team deep into the playoffs. I never saw that. I would have switched him out a few seasons ago, certainly after that Green Bay loss. He just doesn't have it...you can tell by how poorly the team played in the playoffs.

Having said that, the roster has been flawed for ages, and that ain't his fault. Maybe a new HC would have a bit more influence over the acquisition of personnel.

Well there was no hope with him. We'll see. If they bring Moore back then its just year 16 of Garrett.

You do know those are two completely contradictory phrases?
